  • Your top 5 most wanted picks in 1st round and why

    Here are mine.

    1. Rosen- Best passer in the draft. Most pro ready.

    2. Darnold- QB with good arm and mobility. Playmaker with upside. Doesn't have the character concerns of Rosen.

    3. McGlinchey- With quality linemen getting harder to find, never a bad thing to get a stud OT.

    4. Nelson- Maybe the safest pick in the draft. Not sexy, but a plug and play OG for 10 years.

    5. Barkley- I like our RB corps, but this guy is special. When's the last time we had a 1000 yard back?

      1. RB Saquon Barkley: No player in this draft will have a bigger impact on their team the next 3 yrs than him.

      2. OT Connor Williams: Easily the best OT in the Draft and an Elite pass blocker. He'll be the highest graded OT in the past 4 years.

      3. DB Minkah Fitzpatrick: No weakness in his game. Next Jalen Ramsey. Eventual replacement for Talib.

      4. QB Sam Darnold: Highest celing of any QB prospect. Can make all the throws and is mobile.

      5. OG Quenton Nelson: Safest pick in the draft. Watched him and McGlinchey against elite talent of Canes and Wolf pack and McGlinchey is lucky to have him on his team.

Kind of depends on free agency... do we grab Garrapolo or Luck or Cousins... what if we sign Nate Soldier?

Barkley, OL and QB make sense. So does Chubb or Fitzpatrick or Smith too.

Have any highly taken RBs taken their teams to the Super Bowl recently? In the last 20 years? Barkley may have the biggest impact, but RB is a low value position, especially since they need a decent o-line to succeed. Peterson might be the best back drafted in the last 20 years, he's never played in a Super Bowl. Just say no to the highly drafted RB.

I keep seeing people talking about Connor Williams, but I've seen him listed some places as a second or third round pick, is that due to his injury this year?

Fitzpatrick I'd be okay with, but the Broncos really need to focus on offense right now. It's gotta be a QB or OL in the first round.

Regarding Williams, Walterfootball.com lists him as a 3rd or 4th rounder. The word from several scouts is that he lacks strength.

Marshawn Lynch and Jamal Lewis come to mind in an era dominated by all time great QBs. Zeke, Fournett, C Mac and Gurley have teams with the potential to win it all in the near future. Broncos have Zero Playmakers on Offensive. it doesn't matter who's playing QB next year if we don't have a legitimate threat at RB.

Elways Scouting staff scares the hell out of me when it comes to picking Offensive Players. So until they make major changes there, Defensive might be the best route. DB or pass rushers are needed to keep the defense Strong.

By the time the Combine ends Connor Williams will be at the top of every draft board.

Lynch was traded by the team that drafted him because he didn't love up to the hype, even in Seattle outside of one playoff run for a 7-9 division champion the Seahawks didn't start having success until they found a QB. Jamal Lewis was a good RB, but he missed the season the Ravens won the Super Bowl, and in their case it was very much like Denver a defense carrying the offense there.

Gurley showed last year how tough it is to run when the offense has no threat whatsoever at QB, now that Goff has found his game Gurley is having a lot more success. Elliott is a good back with a lot of potential, but it remains to be seen if he can lead the Cowboys anywhere of note, last year he was phenomenal, and he was great in their playoff game and they still lost. Fournette is very up and down in his rookie year, and the games where he's had the most success have been games where he's had long runs not necessarily lots of good runs.

McCaffrey thus far has been both seldom used and fairly ineffective as a running back. His contributions have come as a receiver.

But taking all of the backs you've named how many Super Bowls have they won collectively? The answer is 1, and it came after Seattle added a QB.

That may very well be for Williams, I just hope there's substance behind it, I admit I haven't seen him play, so I have no basis other than what I've read, and it seems to have him as a second round pick. Which would actually be excellent for the Broncos given they'll have a high second round pick. Take Darnold in the first and Williams in the second.

lewis had one of the top 5 units ever in the nfl for defnse and we don't we;d have to build up our d hopefully get a new lber that can cover te like trevathan could and a DE that push the pocket. then an elite RB could make a difference. and also probably upgrade our RT spot restruct watson and move him to gaurd. we are still a few piece away from getting what we need.

                      No specific order.

Bradley Chubb- Next elite edge rusher. Pass rush has dissapeared lately.

Minkah Fitzpatrick- Can play inside, outside CB, FS or SS, some nickel LB. Special defensive player.

Connor Williams- Best T in the draft, would start Day 1 and maybe move Bolles to RT.

Rosen- Think he'll do better in an NFL offense/scheme.

Darnold- Most upside of all the QB's, obviously we need a QB.

Actually it's 3 Superbowl wins. Jamal Lewis had 102 yards and a TD in the Ravens Super Bowl win. Also Reggie Bush helped the Saints to their Superbowl win playing the vital 3rd down RB spot in that offense. Theres no debating that Lynch was the most valuable player in Seattle during their run not Wilson.

I'll agree that the importance of the RB has diminished but they're making a come back. Elway can't afford to miss on another QB. He's gonna buy one this free agency period and give him weapons to work with.

Jamal Lewis didn't play a down the year the Ravens won the Super Bowl. I'll give you Bush, although he didn't live up to the hype, and was a complimentary piece to the prolific passing game, and you didn't mention him initially. And Lynch didn't win anything with the team that drafted him, and didn't win much of anything with Seattle (aside from the 1 beast mode run v NO when Seattle won the division at 7-9) until they got a QB who could compliment him.

The RB is the final piece to a puzzle, not a corner piece, drafting one highly now when there's not enough around them would be a massive mistake.

I just posted a link to an article in GD, that looked at Lynch's start v the Raiders and actually pointed out areas where he's progressed and made some improvements, and areas where he still needs to make improvements. If they can fix the o-line and get Barkley, it might be worth seeing if he can make those improvements. It'll be up to Elway and the coaching staff, but a player like Barkley (and fixing the offense) could give him the pieces where they can bring him along more slowly like the Cowboys have with Prescott and Seattle did with Wilson.

While it wasn’t a pretty at times, there are some positive takeaways from Lynch’s film from Sunday.
