With the 5th pick McShay has us taking...Josh Allen. Oh lord I hope not. Unfortunately he's exactly the type of QB Elway falls in love with. I could live with Elway trading our 2nd round pick to get Allen late in the 1st though. Interestingly, McShay doesn't have Jackson going in the 1st round at all. I wouldn't mind getting him, Allen, or Mayfield early 2nd/late 1st.

I was debating posting this on here or not. I think I would throw my remote through the tv if we did that at 5. Why on earth would we take Lynch 2.0 as a project over reaching on Mayfield? Mayfield may be a reach at 5 but has way way more upside, more accuracy, better decision making and flat out a better athlete. Taking Allen at 5 would make no sense whatsoever other than Elway falling in love with guys who remind him of himself. Which is a horrible way to draft IMO.
You can't even argue this is BPA over need at this point in the draft. And to Papa-pwn I wouldn't be ok with Allen at any point in the first round.sigpicComment

I think Allen is going to go the same draft path as Lynch.... There will be all this hype that he is going top 10-15 but then come the real draft he will be a late first.
So of elway wants him I'd rather draft a worthy player at 5 and then trade up in late first because he is not worth a top 15 pick.sigpic"I'm scared if I stop all at once, the cumulative hangover will literally kill me."Comment

I see that Walter Football has revised it's mock to have us taking Baker Mayfield at #5, behind:
Cleveland - Rosen (QB)
NYG - Jackson (QB)
Indy - Barkley RB)
SF - Chubb (DE)
Might make a lot of folks here happy???
BTW...they have us picking Connor Williams (OT) in round 2.Last edited by CanDB; 12-13-2017, 09:54 AM.Comment

I really don't think Elway is going to go for another 1st round QB. I see Elway going to get a Vet like Cousins to solidify the position.. or go get a Vet like Keenum or McCown and grab a QB early 2nd or trade back into the 1st. Getting a top offensive lineman to bolster our line has to be a top priority since the FA market will be bleak with Tackles.Comment

Lol Can I just went to Walter football and it appears they have some major inconsistencies in the first round mock and second round mock. As in one is updated and the other is not.
First round
5. Denver Broncos - Baker Mayfield
Second Round
41. Arizona Cardinals - Baker Mayfield
Umm. The same player can't be selected twice.Last edited by DenverBlood; 12-13-2017, 10:09 AM.sigpicComment

I would be a little leery about waiting for Williams to drop that far. But if it played out that way I would be happy with it.

But again, are you good with us taking Mayfield? That's really all that matters in this little debate. As for 2nd round selections, hey, I do not put much stock in anyone's mock drafts once you get past round one. Make that, once you get past the top 5 or 10. Things change....Comment

Well now...that sucks a bit. But here's what I think....they failed to upgrade the Arizona pick, and truly believe we are going for Mayfield in their scenario. Not a good situation if a mock drafter fails to update properly, but they have been around for a while, and I have no qualms about their overall credibility.

What I was pointing out was the second round mock clearly is not updated. Meaning when they update it they very well may not have us taking Connor Williams in the second round. Which is what I originally liked about you posting both picks.
But realizing this error they made means their very well could be big changes when they update their second round choices. They may have Williams back in the first where I have always seen him or maybe dropped even further based on more source information. Because obviously they jumped Mayfield 36 spots from one mock to the next.
I'm happy with the picks since it comes across as two top 15 selections to me. Just a little soured by realizing that second round isn't updated. It wasn't meant to poke at you. Just the possibility of getting both.sigpicComment
