Very fair. But Lynch was coming from a spread system that never required him to do anything an NFL QB would do. But I know I was feeling optimistic about him with my orange colored glasses on then too lol.
It is too early to get passionate about a prospect one way or another though. Let’s let the draft process play out, but I think it’s unfair for people to put down Allen already when we barely know who he is. I hope he gets a chance to play in the senior bowl. That will be a huge week for him.

That's just it. We barely know who Allen is. He's got all the physical tools but has put up pedestrian numbers playing with and against lesser talent. He is an incredible risk at the #5 spot. At least Lynch was a late 1st round pick. Of course there is rarely such a thing as a safe QB pick, but Allen seems riskier than most. If we took him at #5 and he didn't pan out it would be a monumental setback for this franchise.

Good argument, and I agree at this point in the process he is far from a sure thing. But if he looks like the next franchise QB we can’t be afraid to pull the trigger because it didn’t work out for us in the past.

Who knows at this point though, we may win our next three and not even be in position to draft him. But the argument that he would be a horrible pick when we really don’t know much about him is unfair. Should be a fun offseason, haven’t been this excited about a draft since the year we got Von and that has worked well.

Allen comes from the same system as wentz if im not mistaken.

That being said my issue is just taking allen at #5. If its our 2nd round pick id be fine. I dont believe that conner would last that long unless hes not medically cleared. I still like the idea of trading back with buffalo. Lots of option to fill holes. If williams and mclinchey (sorry i just murdered the spelling) are gone theres still kolby miller from ucla. If roquan last that long or a DL with other pick.

If nothing else at guard id make a go of mcgovern and leary at guards. So nelson isnt necessarily at the top of the list. This is all just my opinion at the moment though.

Theres also brown for tackle but based on his scouting profile id rather a 2nd or later for him
