  • My vision Mock

I'm no *KWHIT97 But this is my vision so far on how I think this offseason is going to play out...

Elway said he has plan A and plan B for this offseason regarding the QB position. Neither of those plans have Os or Siemian on the roster but sticks with Lynch and lets him serve the rest of his contract as a back up. I think he try's his best to convince Cousins to join the party here in Denver but ultimately can't compete with certain teams with more money. Part of me wants to believe that he will get the job done but the other part of me thinks he falls in love with Baker during the senior bowl week.

Teams that desperately need a QB (and their draft position) are Browns (1 and 4) Giants (2) Broncos (5) Jets (6) Dolphins (11) - although not desperate I can see them adding a QB. Bengals (12), same as Dolphins here Redskins (13) Cardinals (15) Bills (21 and 22) and I'm going to throw in the Jaguars and Vikings.

Notable QB's available or potentially available....

    Drew Brees
    Kirk Cousins
    Case Keenum
    Sam Bradford
    Jay Cutler
    Josh McCown
    Teddy Bridgewater

I am pretty confident Saints will lock up Brees. Keenum I'm hearing will follow Shurmer and I think the Vikings let him go. Minnesota is the surprise team in the Cousins sweepstakes and I think they persuade him, he signs with the Vikings. Giants, imo, are set already on a rookie. Jets, I also feel they are locked in on a rookie and I think they will go all out for Darnold. I think they try to trade up with the Browns.

    Draft

#1 (trade with Browns) Jets - QB Sam Darnold

#2 Giants - QB Josh Rosen

#3 Colts - RB Saquon Barkley

#4 Browns - DE Bradley Chubb

#5 Broncos - QB Baker Mayfield

#6 (trade with Jets) Browns - DB Minkah Fitzpatrick

#7 Buccaneers - OG Quenton Nelson

#8 Bears - WR Calvin Ridley

    #9 Redskins ( trade with 49rs ) - QB Josh Allen

#10 Raiders - LB Roquon Smith

    #11 Dolphins - S Derwin James

#12 Bengals - OT Mike McGlinchey

    #13 49rs ( trade with Redskins ) - WR Courtland Sutton

#14 Packers - DE Arden Key

#15 Cardinals - OT Conner Williams

#16 Ravens - OT Orlando Brown

#17 Chargers - DB Denzel Ward

#18 Seahawks - OT Kolten Miller

#19 Cowboys - DT Maurice Hurst

#20 Lions - DB Josh Jackson

#21 Bills - QB Lamar Jackson

#22 Bills - WR James Washington

#23 Rams - DT Vita Vea

#24 Panthers - DE Harold Landry

#25 Titans - DE Marcus Davenport

#26 Falcons - TE Mark Andrews

#27 Saints - LB Rasheen Evans

#28 Steelers - QB Mason Rudolph

    #29 Jaguars - DT Da'Ron Payne

#30 Eagles - OT Chukwuma Okorafor

#31 Patriots - DE Ogbonnia Okoronkwo

#32 Vikings - OC Billy Price

Browns pass on QB in 1st round to build the next great defense in the NFL with the 2 best defensive talents in the draft.

    Denver's 2nd round pick.....RB Sony Michel
    Denver's 3rd round pick.....ILB Malik Jefferson

Some players I see Denver parting ways with.....
    Talib
    Davis
    Sanders
    Latimer
    Watson
    Garcia

Denver pass's on OT and G early in the draft because they sign Nate Soldier and Andrew Norwell

    Other notable free agent signings....
    CB Prince Amukamara
    WR Allen Robinson
    WR Bryce Butler
    ILB Demario Davis

    Starting Depth Chart

    Offense.....

    QB - Baker Mayfield

    RB - Anderson
    Michel

FB - (my boy ) Janovich

    WR - Thomas
    Robinson
    Butler

    TE - Butt

    LT - Soldier
    LG - Leary
    C - Paradis
    RG - Norwell
    RT - Bolles

Defense, I don't want to get into depth chart here because I see a lot of shuffling and some potential cuts that I didn't pin point earlier. I think Wolfe could be a surprise cut but I want him to still be here so I'm pretending that doesn't happen. All in all, this defense will still be one of the best so I guess I'm not too concerned about it.

    Next season rankings

Offense ranks middle of the pack in points and yards, baby steps towards what I think will be a great offense in years to come
Defense still ranks top 5 in all major category's

    Next season record - 9-7

I’d be okay with much of that. Two non-bronco related things that stick out to me are that you have the browns passing on a qb without addressing it in free agency. I could have missed it somewhere, but there is no way that Dorsey allows the Browns to go into next season without getting a new qb.

And I think what you’re hearing about Keenum is off. I’m pretty sure it’s expected that he will be franchised by the Vikings. Especially if they make it to the Super Bowl I can’t imagine them letting him leave without a “prove it” year.

Yeah I didn't address the Browns and their QB situation, I think they are the team that trades for Smith. They start smith and give Kiser more time to develop behind him.

If they get Smith then I can see your situation with them happening. But, I also could still see them drafting a qb high if they do. Either way wouldn’t surprise me. Still don’t see the Vikings letting Keenum go though. But, if they do, it very well could be to Arizona.

I just have a feeling that the browns are tired of trying rookie QB's, they attempted to trade for AJ McCarron. He very well could be their target again and try to get that trade done. Either way, I see them adding a more seasoned QB and build that defense to something special.

Cousins to the Vikings would be fascinating and something I hadn't pondered. They seem to have the cap space to do it, too. I love Mayfield, but I don't know that I love him at #5. I think Darnold or Rosen would be the safer pick, but when it comes to QBs no one really knows. All I know for sure is that this off season is going to be the craziest since 2012.

I agree with both of you. I think the Vikings tag Keenum, and the Browns are the logical team for KC to seek a trade with. If the Browns acquire Smith, I can definitely see them trading back. I'm not sure Jackson is convinced that Kizer is not the answer anyway.

Even though it's going to cost them over 20 Million, tagging Keenum probably makes the most sense for MIN, unless he completely falls apart today. Signing Keenum to a long term at a slightly cheaper rate is a big gamble for them based on 1 year, and if he plays well again next year, he'll probably be worth whatever his price goes up to anyway. There is no point in retaining Bradford as a backup for what he'll make, and there's not way they can make Bradford the starter again next year. I think they'll try to bring Bridgewater back on the cheap, but he's unrestricted? So if any other team in the league either offers more or wants him to start, he's a goner.

As far as our draft goes, regardless of who we get in FA, I think we should stay put. The exception for me, would be if Elway really likes someone he can trade a couple spots back for.

They do have a lot of cap space. However, they need to be careful how much they spend this offseason because of how many of their own guys they have coming up next off season that might need to be paid.

                Anthony Barr
                Eric Kendricks

I think Clev gets a QB before the drat too and ends up taking Barley and Fitzpatrick. Jets may trade up with Indy to get their QB.

I am not a fan of drafting Mayfield at 5th overall, I see a steep learning curve for him and don't see him being any more ready, or having any more potential then Kelly or Lynch. If the top 10 falls like that I would prefer to look at either Calvin Ridley or Quenton Nelson, especially if in this off-season you plan to get rid of one of Thomas or Sanders.

Prince Amukamara is a very mediocre player, and I am assuming still has some name recognition from when he was severely over drafted and overrated coming out of Nebraska years ago. Going from Aqib Talib to him, and then spending Talibs money on a wide receiver in Robinson, after cutting Sanders, makes no sense and really they are just a bunch of lateral moves which if anything make the team worse.

Signing Nate Solder would be a huge signing obviously and one worthy of the investment in my opinion, however, I am not a fan of then signing another guard to a big contract. We have one guard, Leary already making big money, we need to invest a pick inside the first 3 rounds to get a quality starting guard who we can develop ourselves, and not have to pay for a few years.

Also what is going on at inside linebacker ? You are keeping Brandon Marshall who is going to make 25.5 million dollars over the next 3 years. Then you are adding a starter in Demario Davis who will command a mid level contract you would think, and then drafting an inside linebacker in the 3rd round ? I want starters from this draft and players who will make an impact now, John Elway isn't getting enough out of his drafts and he can't keep drafting backups.

Really hope we don’t spend our fifth overall pick on a receiver. Ridley might be good. But, we have too many other needs to be taking one there.

I agree, I wouldn't be happy with it, however if it was between taking Mayfield and Ridley, I would prefer Ridley at that spot, that was more the reasoning for preferring Ridley there.

I wouldn’t mind Mayfield. However, If we are drafting a qb I hope the browns find their qb in free agency and we trade up for Rosen. But, your option doesn’t have to be “Mayfield or Ridley.” Don’t limit yourself. Shoot for the stars

That is true, and I am all for some sort of situation where Allen moves into the top 5, and one of the quarterback needy teams signs a free agent hopefully pushing Rosen or Darnold down to us, or to a spot we can trade up to and get them. If not though, I think Ridley is the next most talented player available in this mock draft, and I think he could really help whoever is at quarterback, he is so quick, so good at finding space, and has great hands. Also on the initial mock off-season, we need to address tight end at some point, it's been too long since we had a reliable threat at that spot.

I think he’ll be good. But, if we’re going to take a receiver I wouldn’t mind going for Kirk or Miller in the second round. As for TE, hopefully Butt turns out to be special. Otherwise maybe we can sign Trey Burton for a cheap deal to pair with Butt. He did pretty well when he had Wentz as a qb when Celek went down.
