Stay at 5 and take Fitzpatrick, if Talib leaves. If Talib stays, draft Nelson
So then we miss out on Cousins and a top prospect in a fairly deep QB class.

Whats the point of this? I understand taking a blue chip talent in Fitz or Nelson but spend another season without a QB? to purposely tank? That is a horrible idea. What vet on a 1 year deal is going to fix anything? If the idea is to tank just to get Vance out of here they wouldn't of retained him this year. What happens when we win more games next year and we aren't in a position to get one of the top QB's in next draft? Take advantage of the now because now is the time to take advantage with the high draft pick that we have.

This isnt happening lol, Elway said a million times QB is the main priority. Everyone knows Denver will be going hard for a QB this offseason, worst kept secret in the NFL.

If Denver doesnt land Cousins, they'll be going QB. While i prefer Cousins plus top tier prospect at 5. Signing some impact FA's and getting a QB isnt a bad alternative either.

I just don't think that any of these QBs are worth drafting this year, maybe next year. This way you can confirm whether Lynch is a bust or not, see what you have in Kelly, and if they don't work out, you have a cheap vet waiting in the wings. Why spend $ just to spend $? Hopefully next year's FA QBs are better or that the draft has better QBs. You also can grab a QB in the later rounds this year

If you don’t like this year’s qb group then you’re not going to like next years.

No FA QB will be better than Cousins next year. Unless the Falcons stupidly let Matt Ryan walk. Also, please list the 2019 QB prospects who are better than the ones this year.

Drew Lock, Shea Patterson, Jacob Eason, Clayson Thorson, Kelly Bryant, Jared Stidham are the best QB's next year.

This is one of the better QB classes in a long freaking time. If Denver doesnt land Cousins and passes on a QB at 5, Elway's off his rocker. Next years class is miles worse than this years.

Also Lynch is probably bust. His teammates hate him, and he plays video games more than he does studying football.

Cousins in free agency can be a quality QB for a long time yet, he would be an excellent sign. You may not feel like getting a QB is a big concern but 99% of the rest of Bronco country does. It is hands down the top priority and Elway absolutely has to take a chance on one being in the position he is in the draft. If it's not Cousins, its a rookie at 5.....prepare yourself because it's going to happen.
That's my take, too, which goes to the topic of the thread: trade down or not?

Last year, the biggest problems personnel-wise were O-Line and Inside Backer. Looking ahead, depending on salary cap management, other positions will need to be addressed, too.

In the event that Kirk Cousins is signed, it will most likely limit the budget for other free agents. The available O-Line free agents don't seem impressive and, if they were they would be expensive. The Kirk Cousins scenario makes it possible to trade down and have two or maybe even three picks in the first round, or an additional second or third. That could facilitate addressing the O-Line with two good prospects who could start this year.

If Cousins is signed, it ticks the QB box. Right Tackle and interior OL need to be addressed along with Inside Backer. Other needs will either subside or materialize depending on what happens between now and the Draft.

Amd the question remains, are the "blue chip" prospects quanitivly better than someone in the same position at a later draft slot in round 1.

                    Example

Nelson is considered a blue chip Guard. Once in a generational talent.

Now is he at 5 through lets say 9 quanitivly better than say Wynn or Price at 20?

(I used 20 because im using a trade back with buffalo in this scenario)

Now add in the additional value of the player taken at 21. Is nelson as a "blue chipper" better than Wynn and say a legit starting right tackle?
I need more Oline, please and thank you

There are six O-Linemen who will probably be drafted in the first round: Tackles Williams, Brown and McGlinchey; Guards Nelson and Wynn; and, Center/Guard Price.

If there is a trade down scenario in which Denver got one of those Tackles and one of the inside guys, it would be a big step toward fixing their O-Line, IMO, because they would be in contention for a starting spot immediately.

And being that all 3 guard prospects are considered blue chippers along with being at a position of need, i believe we can trade back as still get that pro bowl talent.

Also having a line of say bolles, leary, paridis, wynn, brown or

bolles, leary, price, mcgovern, McGlinchey is worth salivating over if you have a cousins back there....

People also forget we are getting an additional "2nd" rd pick this year with Jake Butt....i say 2nd because that was where he should have gone before the injury

I feel missing out on these guys would be a huge mistake instead of giving us a blue chip talent to rebuild our offense around. Trading down would more then likely abotu 90% chance we miss out any Blue Chip Prospects for our roster.

Kolton miller is another one i can see going late 1st.

If watson is cut i can see that as a sign we go heavy line in the draft
