Moving down from #5 would be a mistake - you don't end up in a position like this often (well, we don't want to be anyway). Have to take the best player available regardless of need imo.

OK....maybe I will try to address this one more time. Hopefully this makes some sense.

1) Although many of us talk like we know the top 5, even 10 players, this group will change from now til the draft. It just will. Player stock rises and falls. So if we say, we have to go #5 today, for who? Because the guy you may covet today, might slip to bottom end of 10 or even beyond. Unless we are saying we should pick at 5 no matter who rises and falls does not hold water for me....unless again, we covet the player.

2) If we get a desperate team who wants to move up, why not take advantage of what might be a ridiculously good offer. So good that we land a quality player in one, and maybe move up to get another one. Or, maybe we end up with Buffalo's two 1sts, and maybe another 2nd. We could change the future of this team with 4 good early picks.

3) And what if we are at 5, knowing who we want....and we ask around and learn that no one is taking that player for a few picks...and that someone does want to trade with us. Seen it many times...a team moves back, lands the same player, but gains goodies.

I say never say never to trading back. Saying that, if we are still in need of a top QB by draft time, we probably will either stay at 5 or move up. By draft time, we will need a quality QB.

A lot of it depends on the coaches you have coaching these players. I see a guy with insane physical talent but super raw like Taven Bryan and start imagining what Bill Kolar could do with him. That’s a guy who would be getting drafted somewhere in the middle of the first round but with great coaching could be the best defensive player in the draft.

In a scenario like that I wouldn’t mind trading down at all but we have to get QB addressed first and foremost unless they plan on taking Lamar Jackson in the 2nd round then im cool on not addressing QB in FA.

This is where franchises mess up when they feel they "have " to draft a QB in the first rd. Ponder, locker, bortles....I don't care how bad we "need" a QB if you don't feel they are they right pick and you are absolutely love and and have faith in them you don't take them PERIOD. You make your team stronger in other areas. If the guy you like is in the 2nd or 3rd rd you get them.....Just bc you are considered to be a 1st rounder doesn't necessarily mean you are a blue chip....I have no problem with Chubb, Barkley, etc...

Take the browns and I know people give them flack but they didn't take a QB in the 1st they took him in the 2nd so if they part ways with deshone....no biggie...they got a safety, D.E., and a good T.E..... now when they get a qb...he will have Gordon, Coleman, And David to throw to and also a good chance to have Barkley too..

DT and Sanders are old and not the same players...we don't know what make butt will do....and I'm not a fan of Cj as a starter....

We are not gonna fix this team in just one off-season....I think people are thinking super bowl...I think we should fix the team....You don't HAVE to take a QB in the first.

Eh, with the set rookie salary scale now, there's no where near the risk of missing on a 1st round QB as in years past. If you draft a QB and he doesn't work out, you're not stuck with his huge contract, you just part ways and draft somebody else.

With the college offenses these days, nobody has any idea what any of the college QBs will do in the pros. Just gotta draft one and hope for the best.

The "can't miss" Andrew Luck type QBs only come once a decade, and they're always picked with the first overall. You'll be waiting decades to try to get a guy you really "love".

Exactly, Plenty of Matt Ryans, Matt Staffords, David Carr's pop up out of drafts every year. I'd be fine taking a QB at 5 because I think there are a few QB's in this draft that fit into that category. I'm still not sold on Allen but if he was the pick i'd get behind it, otherwise give me Mayfield or Rosen....

Taven is one of my favorites in this class. After seeing the jump Gotsis took, I think Bryan would flourish here under Kollar, and would fit right in with the weight room junkies of Gotsis and Wolfe. Getting Peko to mentor him too would also help accelerate his development IMO.

Yeah his jump off the snap is incredible, probably the best I’ve seen since Von Miller. He’s in the backfield before anyone else is even out their stance. Work on his technique and he’s going to be a monster
