Payne did not provide any pass rush in college, only 3 sacks in 3 seasons. Donald was undersized, but one of the best pass-rushing DTs in recent draft history, with the best technique you can get from a college DT. Payne is a big, stout NT. If you want a DT from this class that has some Aaron Donald in his game, it's Maurice Hurst.

I thought Tony Brown looked really good from what little I saw/remember. Josh Jackson looked like a S to me.

      • I agree we could take two ILBs in this draft. There aren't many prospects listed at ILB with great speed, but there is a lot of fast OLBs that can be converted. The draft grades at the position might match the need more than once, especially with Brandon Marshall listed as the only ILB on the roster. Malik Jefferson, one of the fastest true ILBs, looks like good value in the 3rd round.

Ya Jackson is a cover 3 guy, and you need him in a press system. However, that he does better than anyone else in the class.

He’d be a great replacement for Richard Sherman should they opt to move him

            • If we get this QB situation sorted out by the draft, Tremaine Edmunds would be a great addition to our defense.

I want one in each round lol
Barkley, Gesicki, Allen, Hamilton, Cabinda, Apke. That's a great draft! Rd 1-6
Would be great to have Gesicki with Jake Butt. Looks like he could go as a high in the 2nd round or maybe 1st.

                  • With griffins combine, where do you see him being drafted at now? Big al thinks 5th or 6th but he may go in 3 to 4 range

I think if you want to play him at SS you can draft him higher than if you want to keep him at LB. it’ll be hard for him to mix it up with linemen with only one hand that’s why I think he’s a better fit in that “elephant” role as a hybrid S/LB from that nickle spot. He’s honestly a really good fit for Wade Phillips or if Dennis Allen is still running his 3-3-5

Well depending on Hurst's heart condition. From what I've heard he has an enlarged heart, which is a pretty big risk for heart failure. If that's an accurate medical report, he needs to consider another profession.

Yes, that's the issue with him. However, Star Lotulelei was diagnosed with the same issue and he's been fine in terms of health, starting at DT for the Panthers in the last 5 years. Nick Fairley, on the other hand, could not pass a physical with the Saints and did not play last season.

Yeah hit or miss in terms of longevity. He's an amazing prospect though based on his body of work at Michigan. From the sounds of it, he'll probably decide to go forward with the draft if he clears his second medical screen. Time will tell if that's the right choice for him
