Anthems and Protests ---
While we certainly understand the frustration by fans on all sides of the discussion, we have decided to keep the Broncos Country message boards separate from politics. Recent events have brought the NFL to the forefront of political debates, but due to the highly emotional and passionate discussion it tends to involve, we think it’s best to continue to keep politics and this forum separate. Yes, the forum is meant for discussion, but we’d like to keep that discussion to football as much as possible.
With everything going on in our country, it would be nice to keep our complaints and cheers purely related to football here. If you feel passionately, there are plenty of other outlets available to you to express your opinions. We know this isn’t the most popular decision, but we ask that you respect it.
Thank you for understanding.

Best player available. If it's a QB, and especially a QB, you take him. It's the position that can transformate a franchise the most. If you don't really like anyone very much, try to trade down. However, Elway already has a bunch of draft picks and we need some quality, not quantity, to compete again for a championship.

Totally agree, the Browns always seem to have a multitude of picks but hasn’t worked out for them.

Fitzpatrick or Chubb might still be there, but that means you're gambling on offensive linemen later on (unless you trade back up). I think trading down would make sense too, because it could put you in the sweet spot for O Linemen. Especially at 12 and 22. Unless Barkley's there at 5, I'd take 'em. I know it's not a need, and there are others, but I think he's too good to pass on.

Agreed if Barkley is there at 5 you have to take him. Then you could release CJ and save 4.5 million. Honestly if I knew for a fact Barkley was in our grasp I would say cut CJ, Watson, restructure Wolfe, trade Siemian, draft Barkley at 5 move back Into the first for Will Hernandez and pick up Suh right now
My "dream" scenario is to sign Suh, draft Nelson and trade for a RT. Suh and Nelson give us a physical front on both sides of the ball with a serious attitude, with Nelson paired with Bolles who also has an attitude. Suh paired with Von would be a real tough matchup for pretty much every team in the NFL. This gives us a good shot at winning the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball.
Before anyone gets upset, I'm also OK with just about anything we do in the draft other than something really strange. I've fine with taking any of the 4 QBs, Barkley, Nelson, Chubb or Fitzpatrick and even trading down. I just don't want to trade up.
Got a QB? Where? Who? Oh, you mean we got a backup? Because we didn't get an actual starting QB. We got a journeyman backup AT BEST in Keenum. And I'm being VERY generous there.
Broncos fans better hope Elway is far from done making his QB moves. Because if Keenum's the starter in week 1, this upcoming season's already over.

Again, devil is in the details: The $7 million full gurantee in second year of Keenum's contract suggests Broncos would be wasting their No. 5 pick if they use it on a QB. Your No. 5 pick is going to sit for 2 years? That's not what No. 5 picks are for

I think there's a 90% chance they don't take a QB at #5.
10% chance if and only if 1 QB is taken in the top 4 picks.

I posted months back that I had a convo with a someone extremely close to one of our/former QBs and he said the player thought the broncos would sign an above average QB in the off-season, but that it wouldn't be Cousins and that they would NOT draft a QB at 5. The player said they love Kelly and the organization wants to see what he can do.......
All this being said, IF we don't draft a QB (I personally want Rosen then Mayfield, but..) why are we stuck on Nelson for so many when Chubb is available. I think we all identify that our offense (especially OL) is the need, but this guy is the tenacity of Wolfe with the measurable of Clowney. I know many of us don't think that Will Hernandez or Isaiah Wynn will get to our 2nd, and that might be true, but there are many RTs that might be available (Pitt LT, Okla LT, UCLA LT....) that I could see us going with one of those and rolling the dice with McGovern. If S. Harris and Wolfe can provide interior pressure, with Von and Chubb screaming of the edge, I like our chances if we can find a serviceable RT, with McGovern in at guard, and Keenum/Kelly making plays. I like that team in this division. Very Raider-esq of 2 years ago.

Klis is just throwing stuff out there. If you draft a rookie and start him, who backs him up? Another rookie? It’s totally realistic to draft a QB at 5 and develop him while Keenum does this year and some of next season. What do you do if Keenum is underwhelming? Play Lynch? I’d rather play a rookie.

Basically the article quotes Vance Joseph saying that Keenum will be the starter and that Lynch will be backing him up. It also quotes Joseph and Elway speaking in support of Lynch as a developing player. I found this paragraph intriguing:
The Broncos' thinking regarding Lynch, along with the declaration that Keenum is entrenched as The Guy, suggests they won't add to the position with the No. 5 overall pick in next month's NFL draft. It's unlikely they'd carry four QBs on the 53, nor would they subject current No. 3 Chad Kelly to the practice squad, where he can be poached by another team.
Right now I look at our QB situation as #1) mediocre (Keenum), #2) bad (Lynch), #3 unknown (Kelly). But Lynch did look more like an NFL QB late last year. What I want is a better O-Line. They can put McGovern in at OG to replace Garcia. That would be a big upgrade. Maybe Watson improves or maybe Billy Turner can take over the RT position. I don't know. But Quenton Nelson looks better every day, especially if some team grabs Paradis and McGovern becomes the new Center.
I want to see Elway sign Cameron Fleming to play RT. He might be too expensive so an option could be Austin Howard.
In the draft go with BPA at #5 - I think Fitzpatrick or Chubb would be great picks. Broncos need another playmaker in the secondary after trading Talib.
If Elway goes with building the line (assuming a free agent tackle not signed), then get McGlinchey. I think Elway could trade down and get Brown.
