Smoke Screen or me over thinking ?

Anyone else notice that the teams website/tweeter has been quick to pubically announce the private workouts/ visits with the top QBs of the draft..

However I have not seen much on other guys...

Don't they WANT everyone to think they will take a QB?

Anyone have any other smoke screen theories ?

No smoke screen theories from 7. He straight up takes what he says he will take.

The only spin I could see is we have brought in a few ILB from rd 2/3 so if we took one in rd 1 I would concede defeat in saying so.

If we took Nelson at 5 after hyping the QBs, it would be embracing the opportunity to try to trade and not misdirection.

I don't see it as a smoke screen, there has been too much time, too many resources spent on these QBs just to create a smoke. I think Elway and the front office are simply leaving no stone unturned to be 100% sure if they can pass on a QB at #5 or if there is a really special guy in this group that is worth the selection, even if he needs to sit behind and Keenum and provide no immediate help.

I see it miore as due diligence.

The fact that they're doing that actually just makes it more likely they're going QB.

They're tweeting these out with their shiny graphics and exciting words to possibly get the fan base pumped up about the quarterbacks.

I can see it as business as usual, but I could also understand a little more noise on QBs, if we have hopes of a team moving up to give us a potful of draft capital.

Last week there was so much speculation about a trade between the broncos and patriots. This is what was suggested

Denver would give up the number 5 pick in exchange for the #23 #41 #43 #63 to go with their own #40 #71 #99
Can’t say I’d completely oppose it, that is a lot of high picks!
It also weakens the patriots if you look at it from the angle that the pats would miss out on a lot of really high selections in exchange fir a what if QB at 5!

Now this is crazy internet talk. Darnold is going #1 or #2.

This wouldnt even happen since Darnold is going 1 or 2, and secondly, it would cost alot more than their top 4 picks to get into the top 5.

It cost the Jets three 2nds to move up THREE spots lol. And i dont see the Pats giving up their whole draft for a guy who wont play next year.

I think Elway would consider it. I don't think Belichick would though. Historically he trades back or just flat out trades his high picks for players, probably based on the fact that they always pick from 29-32. On the other hand, losing Garoppollo was actually pretty significant. So who knows, maybe Belichick does think the time to find Brady's successor is now. It's probably a non-issue since Darnold is going to be either a Brown or Giant.

the Browns should take Darnold at Number 1 (he’ll end up a bust in Cleveland) however they could end up taking barkley at 1 with the Giants taking Chubb at 2. They’ve traded JPP and it’s no secret that GM Dave Gettleman has a mad crush on D-linemen so I would not be surprised if Darnold is on the board at number 3 where the ridiculous Jets will pass on him for Allen. Lol I think Darnold could be on the board at 4 but at that the Browns will select him.

If they take Nelson at 5 then Elway should be fired before he can make pick #40

During the Combine, John Dorsey listed his 5 most important positions correlated with winning:

                          1. QB; 2. Pass rusher; 3. CB; 4. LT; 5. WR.

RB was not on that list. Dorsey has available to him exactly the type of the QB he wants: Josh Allen. He had Brett Favre, tried to get Paxton Lynch, moved up for Pat Mahomes.

If the Browns don't take Allen at #1, it's because they think Darnold is even better. The #1 pick will be a QB. Even if Barkley is there at #4, I don't believe Dorsey will take him if Chubb is also available. I can see Barkley at #4 as a fallback option if the Giants take Chubb.

Only if #40 is not part of the deal.

They have pass rushers already on the team. Myle Garrett was the number pick last year.
