  • Drew Lock

    Per Roto World
"Everything" Draft Analyst's Tony Pauline has heard since the East-West Shrine Game has the Denver Broncos selecting Missouri QB Drew Lock.

The Broncos hold the 10th overall pick, and the organization doesn't seem sold on Case Keenum, who is just a bridge quarterback. That puts John Elway and Co. right in the middle of the 2019 QB class, but it appears that they would need to trade up to select Dwayne Haskins. However, we aren't even sure that the Broncos have Haskins over Lock (6'4/233) with report after report linking the Missouri quarterback to Denver. It's weird to see this amount of smoke this early into #DraftSZN, but Lock checks the boxes that Elway loves in a quarterback prospect -- large frame and a big arm.

If Denver has Lock ahead of Haskins, then they are the only people who do. And remember, Denver had Osweiler ahead of Dak Prescott. Just look at the QBs that this FO has taken. It's been pathetic. Moving up in the Draft to take Lynch? How far did that set this Franchise back? And Lynch had a "large frame and a big arm", too. From top to bottom, they have been terrible. So when I hear the suggestion that everybody has Haskins as the #1 QB, and that the Broncos have Lock ahead of Haskins, pardon me for not having a good feeling about that.

With that being said, I will support whoever ends up being the 2019 QB as we all know that EVERY college QB taken in the Draft is a complete and total crap-shoot.

Dak didn’t go until the 4th round. It’s possible every team in the league had Brock ahead of him.

Haskins is a 1 year starter who benefitted from playing on a team that always had better players than the opposition, and played for a coach not well known for developing NFL QBs. In his biggest game of the year his o-line gave him all of the time in the world. Now that's not his fault by any means, but when you look back at that game he never faced pressure and all he did was throw which ever crossing route was open. He's got question marks around him as well.

I've actually read nothing about "everyone" having Haskins first, I've read that it's very split.

As for the Lock v Lynch comparisons, I don't think that's relevant. Lock has played in a pro style offense, he's considered to have excellent abilities, and he's considered a hard worker and very smart. They compare him to Jay Cutler but with a much more coachable personality.

I think you mean Osweiler and Wilson, since Prescott was drafted 4 years after Osweiler. I think that had more to do with the starting QB in Denver at the time, Osweiler was more in that mold than Wilson was. Sure in hindsight Wilson should have been the pick, (although one could ask if he'd have had the same career in Denver in a much different offense being the backup for 4 years?) but Wilson was passed over by every single NFL team at least once. It's not like he was a no brainer pick, he went in the third round.

Osweiler and Prescott weren't in the same draft class. Are you thinking of Lynch? Osweiler and Wilson were the same year.

I think Haskins will be picked before Lock who might still be available at #10.

Osweiler was also drafted 4 years before Prescott.

Nobody knows, or has access to the various NFL teams Big Boards, so when I say "everyone", I'm going by the Mock Drafts. If you can find people who have Lock ahead of Haskins in Mock Drafts, then you are seeing a list that I haven't seen.

                  Indeed.

Even the team that drafted Dak had Lynch rated higher, so there’s that.

And didn't Prescott miss his flight to Denver and get arrested for a DUI before the draft? And given his level of play the last few years, I'm not sure Dallas thinks he's the answer there either.

How many mock drafts had Baker Mayfield going first at this time last year? I'm not worried about what mock drafts say (although I do like to check them out from time to time to see where different players are going) right now because it's still way too early. I'm sure the Broncos will be looking at just about every QB in the draft, Haskins will have the chance to win them over. But as I pointed out, there are real reasons to question him. Mock drafts don't necessarily take those things into the equation.

Oswieler had just come off a year where he got offered like 17m a year. so i would think alot of teams had Osweiler higher. i just don't get how those 2 matter taking Osweiler came out four years before dak

Denver having lock ahead of Haskins or whomever is really a who cares. They know hey pick at 10 they know the approx cost to move up. Lock is probably at least partially on the cost of other qbs. Luck is a generational talent there is almost no cost too great to move up. Guys like lock and Haskins are what they are and you can’t give up a draft to grab one, especially when the difference is minimal

                            Here's what I see, Lock at 10.

Trade Von, Roby, and Ray for this and next years firsts from the 49ers.

                            Why?

Because we learned from Josh, that you can really set your old club up with gm control.

The outcome, A Bowlen becomes owner. Ellis let go. Elway takes advisor role. Lynch becomes GM, Mike Shanahan becomes head coach, Kyle OC, Everyone falls back into their strongest roles.

So the deal gets Lynch fired now, and everything aligns. Question is, will it happen soon, or later in. Hoping the courts decide soon, I'm pretty sure John has some political pull. Am I right. Pat may have trusted Ellis, but the Kids can trust JE.

It's what should go down. The negativity that clouded our franchise, were the decisions and lack of clarity that Ellis imposed. It's what I see, not any truth, but we sure did set this up to be highly possible and the tides will turn if this happens.

Ps, I only put Von in the deal to make it look a little less of a RIP off, and basically we could use the cash.

Pick 2, Bosa. Pick 10 Lock.

Maybe Garoppolo, Sherman, Kyle and 2 firsts for Von, Keenum, Roby, and Ray.

That should get Lynch fired, and get the Dominoes rolling.
