I do not see Harris as a victim. He is a professional that has earned a pay raise by his performance. My response was directed towards comments critical of him “rubbing you the wrong way”.

Just like other professions, ego about how you compare to your peers or how you use any leverage you might have are realistic responses.

I don’t begrudge Harris feeling slighted or getting a raise more in line with his accomplishments and impact.

As I stated, I am less concerned with the Broncos giving their All Pro an extra $4m then I am with them giving Keenum $7m to play for another team . A very expensive mistake that cost them an impact player this year.

Bottom line, I’m happy to see Harris on the field for the season.

Personally I'm more disappointed that the Broncos are wasting $7M on Keenum this season. Or wasting another $12m on DT, Marshall, Watson, Stewart and Lynch. Make better decisions and the cap would not be so tight, would it? Sure would be nice if the Broncos had even half of the $21m being squandered this season.

As a teacher, did you support the strikes in local school districts? Weren't those agreed upon salaries? Yet when one district gets a raise a nearby district usually follows citing the raises given to a bordering district as a main reason. If a JeffCo teacher knows and accepts a wage why are they complaining if their peers are making more. Not exactly the same but similar enough to the point I made.earlier.

Also wouldn't going on strike and leaving "the children" with no school be a solid case of strong arming tactics? Funny I'm not seeing any teacher strikes, protests or slogans on the back of cars these days. On vacation?

I simply witnessed Chris Harris strong arm Elway into squeezing the team's cap space even tighter, forcing the Broncos to save face for future free agents to take notice.

Maybe players should sign for fewer years?

Curious why he shouldn't have an issue with the team signing Jackson for more? The man has been a multi time All Pro and earned the accolades he gets. Yet his own team makes a public issue of even negotiating with him and then signs a lesser player for significantly more. I understand why he would let ego get the best of him.

I am guessing everyone posting here would have similar issues if this happened to them at their job. I don't care if it is a sales, mechanic, teacher, construction or fast food job. Similar situations would create just as much of a push back from any of you.

Look at similar numbers. You work your butt off for several years, set industry levels of professionalism and earn a raise to $80K a year. While seeing your peers making $150K a year. You see a less accomplished co-worker go to another company and get $100K a year. And then your organization hires a new less accomplished employee for over $110K a year.. And the issue does not change if you go to hourly wages of $8 an hour/$10 an hour/ $11 an hour or $15 an hour. And being told "why complain, you agreed to it".

Which of you would not have an issue with this? Or be a bit disgruntled and want a raise? So why criticize Harris.

The man is damn good at his job. I'm glad he got a deserved raise. And I am looking forward to this secondary this season.

Great analogy. I have a friend who worked on an Amazon crew of 8 to 12 people, for a couple of years. As people on the crew were replaced because of a job change, or whatever, the people that were hired were making more than the crew that had the 2 years of experience. AND, they were told to "Train" that new employee. The entire Crew got together, went to the boss, and asked for a raise.

They were all fired, on the spot. I get it that life isn't fair. But it's nice to see management at least pretending to be fair. Frankly, I hope Harris gets the raise that he deserves, next year. And I'm sure it will be for another team.

Sorry to hear about your friends unlawful firing. Suggest he/ she adds their name to the countless lawsuits being filed against Amazon for its discriminatory and unlawful employee treatment.

As for Harris. Hope he and Jackson both play with chips on their shoulders. Secondary should be incredible with those two, Callahan, Parks and Simmons. Even a bit of depth to handle the inevitable hopefully “minor” injuries.

Add a relentless pass rush and Broncos should be able to rely heavily on a potential top 3 defense!

After reading the tweets and articles...I decided that now I am annoyed with one of my favourite broncos... when did he become all about the money? And highest paid? Not liking him right now, hopefully this ends it for the year and he plays for that next big contract this season...

I don't think this would have been as much of an issue if they hadn't signed Kareem Jackson to a contract that paid more than him. And next season Kareem Jackson's cap hit goes to a staggering 14 million.

If you're a top level performer at your work, and someone less talented comes in and gets a larger contract, it's hard not to feel slighted. I see this in the workplace every day. It's common in every facet of work in this country. Ultimately your salary determines your worth to the company, and by extension, a part of your ego. It's going to be hurt if you see others valued over yourself, especially if you are considered an essential personnel to the team that has put in the time and work.

He just earned for many a lifetime of savings. That's not bad for sitting out OTAs. The options were to sit out the season and likely not get a huge contract at 31-32 years old, or get an additional 3.2 million and play well to allow and let the market decide what he's worth.

Glad to see some type of deal is done, hopefully they can work out a new contract in the offseason so he can retire here. He’s only allowed 16 TDs in his career, tied for the lowest amount in that timeframe with Richard Sherman. Multiple seasons of not allowing a TD at all. He’s arguably the best CB in the NFL and definitely deserves to be paid like it.

I hope they at least stay in contact and work on the negotiations throughout the season though. If they can’t agree to a deal before the deadline you have to look into trading him. Jalen Ramsey, Patrick Peterson, Fuller if he regresses away from Fangio, or some other disgruntled top CB. A compensatory pick will not be fair value for him.

Harris played a part in this, too. He's the one who demanded either a trade or to be the highest paid CB in the league. Elway appropriately stated he would deal with him after the draft. I am glad the situation is resolved, although I couldn't care less whether he got a raise or not. He says he'll hit free agency next year and be the #1 paid CB. Well, we'll see about that.

Perhaps he became "all about the money" when he felt disrespected over the past few months by the Broncos. And the only thing he and his agent have been focused on because of it.

Broncos season ended in January. Since that time he has been told he is old, injured, not the best on his own team, not worth a raise and basically told not to let the door hit him on the way out by fans and management. Maybe he is a bit chafed by the disrespect and made comments directly related to salary or business side of things instead of on field comments. .

IMO he will have his usual great season to prove he is not declining and worthy of a top top CB salary. Still will hope he and the Broncos can find a compromise. I think $15M multi year is too steep but if they can keep him on the roster for another 2-3 years at the same $12M per,,, Who knows?

If it’s next season, the Broncos should have insisted on adding a year or just let him play on the original deal.
