That's probably a no on Bradberry too. Literally made my post about Bradberry minutes before the Bouye trade news broke.

Perriman came on strong for the Bucs at the end of the season. Not saying he has been the better player but when you factor the money I think I like his potential upside / cost ratio better. I think I would rather take him on a shorter contract than throw 8-12 million at Anderson. I think they have a similar ceiling, I just think it is less likely that Perriman will hit it.
But the big difference between them I’d say is that I think Anderson has better hands for one (1 drop last season) and he has much more potential as a route runner where as I think Perriman caps out as an Ashley Lelie one trick pony type of WR. Plus I think Perriman benefitted from Winston’s propensity to hold onto the ball for forever and a day as well as Mayfield last season when he had a mini run like what he did with the Bucs. The ceiling may be similar but the floor is vastly different

I would like to get Bradberry. I know he wants 15 mil per year, but he's young and he follows the opponents #1 WR. And, he has matched up against the likes of Michael Thomas, Julio Jones and Mike Evans. I think it would be worth it, but that's just me. However, I would be more than happy to bring in someone like Byron Jones. I would prefer not to trade for Slay. I'd much rather sign a free agent CB and draft one or two as well.
I don't want to spend big on a WR. I'd rather draft one in the first two rounds. If we do sign a free agent WR, I'd look for guys on the cheap or a one year prove it deal.

Let the 3rd round be the round of the CB. Trade a 3rd for Slay, and draft Bryce Hall and Jeff Gladney.

If we want to spend money in FA that is great with me, but don't give away solid picks for players that are essentially the same caliber that we can pick up in free agency OR with the pick we are trading.
No way I want giving up draft capital for Slay when we can sign Jones, Bradberry, or Amukamara.
No way I want to give up draft capital to sign Diggs when this draft is loaded with WR talent. 20 WRs with 3rd round or higher grades. Diggs is not worth the contract he is demanding
Did I really read that someone suggested paying 20 million a year for Robbie Anderson? If he was near anywhere near that amount the Jets would never let him go. He wasn't even better than Jamie Crowder last year. Anderson is going to get overpaid but I hope it isn't by us. Rather have a young guy that works for peanuts than pay Anderson over 10 million per year to get 700-800 yards receiving
If we pickup a WR in free agency, I hope it is a flyer on Perriman but that doesn't mean we shouldn't draft 1 or 2 this year as well. Take advantage of the loaded draft at WR

Slay, Amukamara, Callahan, Hall?/Gladney? along with Simmons, Jackson and Chinn?(Steve Atwater’s nephew) would set up the secondary nicely.

I like this approach, and with the young core we have coming up right now, I just want to add to it. I would rather not sign any of these overpriced guys, draft well again, maybe sign a couple cheaper, younger free agents, and continue to develop guys. Anderson and Jones will get highly paid, and they are just guys. Slay and Diggs are much better, but they will require draft picks to acquire.
There's a school of thought that if you think you have a really good QB, that you load up in FA while you have them on their rookie contract.
I wouldn't mind expensive 5 year contracts for Jones and Anderson if they could be dumped easily in years 4 and 5.
I think Jones and Anderson are well above JAGs. They'd probably be overpaid by 15-20%. I think 4 or 5 strategic signings like that could lead to deep playoff runs over the next 3 years while Lock is on his rookie contract. This is assuming we still continue to draft and develop as well as we have so that when we dump those contracts to extend Lock and other rising stars we have the cap space, and the young up-and-comers to replace them
My wish list:
- Byron Jones 5 years (dumpable after 4)
- Robbie Anderson 4 years (dumpable after 3)
- DJ Reader 5 years (dumpable after 4)
- Calais Campbell 3 years (dumpable after 2)
- Joe Thuney 5 years (dumpable after 4)
