We have enquired about Diggs ? The report I seen was that we were doing our "due diligence" on Diggs, not we have asked about actually getting him. I also thought the report was the stuff fan fiction and fan reporters of SI and Mile High Report write, not anything concrete. And again, I don't think we did go after them guys. I think all those names were cooked up by fans who were hoping we went after them, but never actually were linked beyond again, some fan reporters guessing making vague links. We will see how it pans out, but free agency mega spending isn't how to build a winning team, unless Manning becomes available.

We do not have to but we likely will. I expect elway to go heavy on Denfense in FA and offense heavy in the draft. Either way, we know we have looked at Slay, Jones is a top target of ours and we have inquired about diggs.

Last year or was it the year prior? Cant rememebr but we went hard for CJ mosley, Amos, Colias, all while having no cap.

We landed Talib, Welker, Demarcus Ware, Tj Ward, and a few others all with 30 mil cap space. We have more than double that.

We also need to remember we are not going to keep all of our like 12 picks. We do not have room for that many on the roster either. We will be burning several of those to trade up and to trade for players.

Also keep in mind elway likes to fill holes on the team in FA so that he is not forced to draft that position. Expect us to sign a fair few players. He will be active.


PS- (not to you in general) Callahan is a stud. Sucks he couldnt play for us but Chubb only played like 2 more games than he did for us. We are all excited to have Chubb back. Callahan is really really really good. Really good!! We just need to secure 2 outside guys.

I’d go the cheaper route and look at guys like James Bradberry, Logan Ryan, Prince Amukamara, and Trae Waynes. Sign one of these guys and draft someone in the 2nd or 3rd round. We need to spend on the lines.

Both Dawson and Bausby showed potential to be CB3's. Yiadom needs to be gone. With Harris leaving we will need a vet CB, and Callahan may not be healthy enough. Slay or Jones are a big must if we want to have a strong defense still

Oh absolutely we should go after Byron Jones hard but I think we need to bring in more talented bodies period. Sidney Jones played well this past season when not hurt but that’s the story with him and Josh Jackson for whatever reason couldn’t get on the field this past season after an up and down rookie year. But both guys are super talented and a change of scenery may help them so I’d be willing to ship a late round pick for them. Both guys fit the system very nice and while it would eliminate the need to get a CB fairly early it’s be a step in the right direction.

I'll believe Callahan is good when he actually steps on the field. The problem is that for every Kareem Jackson Elway finds a Flacco. This offseason is the best chance he'll likely have in the next half decade. If he can't get it done now then he probably never will

I think the return of Simmons, signing the draft class, adding one top level free agent, and 2 or 3 middle tier guys is what we should do.

Fangio gave young guys playing time last year, and we had a couple unlikely guys emerge, I want to continue that trend and try to do things differently to the past few years. The problem with Elway in free agency has been signing those middle tier guys. Due to the nature of free agency most of the time guys get paid a tier or two above where they’re at. I don’t think we can afford to sign those middle tier guys expecting them to be better than what they were. The only example I can recall working was Sanders and I guess you could include Welker but they signed appropriate deals. Kareem Jackson could be another one but he was miscast at CB in Houston and it took him awhile to find his way, so even though we overpaid in my eyes, he lived up to it this season. While we’ve paid lesser guys top money only to watch them continue to play bad or even regress such as Leary, Watson, Stephenson, Callahan couldn’t get on the field, James couldn’t stay on the field, King, etc.

I think boom or bust in free agency is the best way to go for us in that we should sign Byron Jones or go to the bargain bin of free agency while planning to bolster that position through the draft, no in between guys like Trae Waynes, Jimmy Smith (very good CB but very injury prone and will be 32) or even Xavier Rhodes who will get paid more than he should off past reputation.

I agree, a 3rd would be all I would want to give though. I would like to give a 3rd for Slay, a 3rd for Stephon Diggs and still have a 3rd in my back pocket.
