  • Realistic Quick Mock

    So I’m planning on us beating the Raiders on Sunday to finish 6-10 and with the #10 pick in the draft.

    Current Roster moves;

    Jeff Driskel (cut)
    Philip Lindsay (2nd rd tender)
    Tim Patrick (2nd rd tender)
    Von Miller (club option)
    A.J. Johnson (original rd tender)
    A.J. Bouye (cut)
    Kareem Jackson (don’t pick up option)

    Our free agents;

    Demar Dotson (1 yr 4 mill) he and James battle it out for RT job.

    Shelby Harris (3 years 27 mill)
    Justin Simmons (5 years 75 mill)
    Will Parks (1 year 2 mill)

    Re-structure and keep;
    JuWuan James
    Jurrell Casey

    Free Agent Additions;

    LB Lavonte David (3 years 36 mill)
    cutting Bouye allows this to happen. This guy is exactly what Fangio’s defense needs.

    Draft;
    1. CB Patrick Surtain (Alabama)
    2. Edge Quincy Roche (Miami)
    3. CB Asante Samuel Jr (Fla st)

    We upgrade at ILB and CB. Sounds like a good deal. Agreed?

    Not a fan. But that's just me.
    Until we get a TRUE not name "Lock" qb we will miss the playoffs and be average at best! I'm E2DS and I approve this message! "AND IF YOU DON'T KNOW, NOW YA KNOW."

      Need a rookie T earlier than 4th round. Demar Dotson might not hold up if he had to start all season. He'll be 36 in October. Ja'Wuan James is a complete ? Only Dove Valley has a clue about him. Calvin Anderson might be groomed to be Swing Tackle as he is a depth guy. You didn't mention Elijah Wilkinson who will be UFA and is really a G. Think he will be released since interior depth is OK without him. A rookie T no later than third round, second or first better, is necessary to be groomed to start eventually.

      Driskel is under contract for 2021. What is the cap hit for releasing him? Jake Butt, DeMarcus Walker, Jeremiah Attaochu and Devante Bausby are UFAs. What about them? Austin Calitro, Trey Marshall and Kevin Toliver are RFAs. Do you tender them?

        James i doubt restructures expecially if we are needing g him to be our rt. And Samuel goes in the second round easily

          I've seen some mocks that even have him going late first.

            If our free agents aren’t mentioned, they’re not resigned.

              It’s definitely possible, he looks really good. I think his size might scare some teams off a bit but FSU put him on a legit island at times. The combine will be huge for him. A great showing would cement him as a first round pick but an average to good showing may leave him on the outside looking in.

                Maybe but there has been sucessful CB at 5'10 and he has the tools you want in a cb even if he a bit small. thats why i see him as a solid mid round 2 guy.

                  Recent mock on PFN (best sim I can find)
                  9 Micah Parsons LB (could've traded back with 4 different teams)
                  40 Alex Leatherwood OT (Barmore went one pick ahead of me)
                  72 Shaun Wade CB (Traded Back w/DET for '22 5th)
                  104 Andre Cisco S
                  135 Israel Mukuamu CB
                  166 Tyler Vaughns WR
                  199 Haskell Garrett DL
                  201 Reggie Roberson WR
                  216 LaBryan Ray DL

                  Every simulator I've tried, Parsons falls to 9 consistently. I tend to go more towards value right now, not knowing how the offseason is going to shake out. I generally take positions we'll likely need. Vaughns is a Patrick replacement, and Roberson is a potential kick returner with upside as a receiver. Garrett, I dunno. Maybe 3 tech bull rusher in our D after he develops, but I thought the value was too good. LaBryan Ray I think is a great 5 tech fit for our defense. He has injury issues. I don't think Wade is a great fit for our defense, but in the 3rd? Detroit gave me a free pick, too. Mukuamu I think is a better fit, so double dip. Cisco in the 4th I just...sure.

                    As long as Shaun Wade never has to cover Devonta Smith, l like alot of these picks.

                        only thing is that wouldnt draft wade for that purpose from my understanding. Hes more of a slot/nickel/dime back.

                          You had me at Parsons and Leatherwood! lol

                          As for the original post ideas.

                          - Agree with the improving of LB and CB rooms as a priority.
                          - Excited about the d-line if Casey and Shelby as the foundation,.
                          - No issue with cutting Bouye, for such a "big" addition he was horrible iMO. Seemed to give up yards every game.
                          - As for OT. Would love to see an early selection to prepare for RT. Not sure what kind of "battle" there will be between James and Dotson. One looked cooked and ready for retirement. The other a complete unknown of his motivation or work ethic. Broncos are stuck with James as a wildcard. Either will finally live up to his contract or show he needs to retire. It could be as simple as he shows up next season in the best shape of his life or he fails the training camp physical.

                            I cant remember what thread we were talking about mocks but I finally got a trade to happen with the bears to move back into the first:

                            surtain cb
                            collins lb (trade)
                            eichenburg ot
                            trask qb
                            cisco s
                            jackson tackle
                            teague rb
                            johnson dt

                            covers most bases except edge help. but can you imagine those first 3?

                              I like it. Trask doesn't do it for me, but you never know. He's probably the best option left after the top 5 QBs. My worry with him is that he's a turnover machine in the NFL.
