Anthems and Protests ---
While we certainly understand the frustration by fans on all sides of the discussion, we have decided to keep the Broncos Country message boards separate from politics. Recent events have brought the NFL to the forefront of political debates, but due to the highly emotional and passionate discussion it tends to involve, we think it’s best to continue to keep politics and this forum separate. Yes, the forum is meant for discussion, but we’d like to keep that discussion to football as much as possible.
With everything going on in our country, it would be nice to keep our complaints and cheers purely related to football here. If you feel passionately, there are plenty of other outlets available to you to express your opinions. We know this isn’t the most popular decision, but we ask that you respect it.
Thank you for understanding.

wait what's this? A GM doing things that are obvious and logical? .........personally glad to have timmy pats ans Sutt on board for the foreseeable future
The beatings will continue until morale improves....
Ya know I think if we had Shanny as head coach this team along with and wait for it...Lock would and could be a sb contending team. Too bad none of that is possible. I just think Shannyn would be in coaches paradise with Williams running the ball and have Lock do the zone read west coast stuff. It just shows that coaching is a glaring need in this as bad as qb but with the right system Lock could flourish. Those of you that know my posts knows I'm no Lock fan but I think that setup would work. He's got the receivers and run game we would have a big time offense in the league with Shanny.
Happy with this move. Even if Sutton doesn't fully return to his old form (which I think is overblown, he has looked pretty good at times this season), it's nice that we'll have Patrick, Sutton, Jeudy and Hamler all locked up for a few seasons. It has been said already, but definitely makes us a decent landing spot for a big time QB.

That pretty much goes without saying... Look how many average to bad QBs Shanny turned into pro bowlers... Griese, Plummer, Cutler, RGIII. Not to mention what he did with bona fide HOFers...
Bring Back ORANGE Sunday!!!
Tim Tebow combines the intensity of Ray Lewis with the throwing ability of... Ray Lewis.

Teddy can sling it. Not saying he has a rocket arm, far from it, but Patrick and Sutton are great at contested catches from his more loopy passes. The problem is the Teddy doesn't have the confidence to do it, in part, because he plays behind a very average O-line. Cush, Risner, Glasgow have to play at a higher level or we build the Oline through the draft. Forget FA... we suck at this.
Of course a more mobile, stronger armed, smart and accurate QB would work right now, and we would be lighting up the scoreboard.
Trouble is... who is that QB?.... For me realistically, only Watson fits... probably available at a decent compensation, but Rogers, Wilson et al.... are not long term sustainable. 2-3 years max.
Oh, and we ain't taking Watson.... so we have to draft.
Lots of needs, so unless Teddy suddenly grows some long balls, or Drew grows a brain.. we can expect at least 2 years before we get truly competitive.

If character was a factor in taking Surtain over Parsons, they'll be snowboarding in hell before Watson's on the itinerary. They'd probably drag Griese out of the booth first.
"grows" some long balls or "throws" some long balls? lol.
I like it. Pay Sutton as a #1WR, pay Patrick as a #2WR, keep Jeudy and Hamler on their rookie contracts, develop guys like Hinton, replace guys like Spencer.

Teddy isn’t a good QB. Has nothing to do with anything else but that

Not disputing his poor current level of performance and his ceiling is probably bang average play, or maybe just above average.
Right now we have no choice but to roll with him.... but with Teddy playing at his best, and improved line play, we could even scrape a wild card place.
Always we should want our team to win every game. For me this represents our best option this season Afterwards we need a new QB, but we need to fix the Oline play as well.

Solid post.
Perhaps we could be competitive next year if we replaced our OL via next year's draft?
(selecting 10-15)
G Kenyon Green in round 1.
T Abraham Lukas with 2A.
G Zion Johnson with 2B.
C Alex Lindstrom with 3A.
T Trevor Penning with 3B.
T Bolles
G Muti
G Risner
G/C Mienerz
Looks ridiculous but Teddy/Lock require a better OL for all the reasons you mentioned.
I expect both back next year.

I have not herd the updated stat but a few weeks ago Teddy was in bottom 5 in the NFL in time it takes to throw the ball. Herd one report that says Teddy throws no slants which is one of the best ways to get rid of the ball quickly.
Maybe a QB who gets rid of the ball will help.
edit looked it up
He is not even the Qb I thought he was as he is one of the worst in the NFL in terms of time it takes him to throw the ball. 29 QBs have a better time to throw than Teddy with 100 passing attempts or more. Colt McCoy would make it 30 but he has 90 pass attempts.
Teddy is not the short passing specialist who makes quick decisions that we were sold on.

The details of the deals are not available yet but I wonder if the Broncos put flexible terms in case they want to sign Jeudy or Hamler to long terms deals in a 2-3 years.

Yep, and unfortunately with him not being very elusive that magnifies OL struggles to prevent sacks. Do we call slants or does he not throw them? It seems like we have several guys that can make that catch especially on 3rd and less than 7.
