  • 2022 NFL combine CBs and Safeties

Could we possibly draft a cb with the 9th pick again andding some sauce to the mix? Should Hamilton slip could we pull the trigger on him??? We do need depth at CB.
Until we get a TRUE not name "Lock" qb we will miss the playoffs and be average at best! I'm E2DS and I approve this message! "AND IF YOU DON'T KNOW, NOW YA KNOW."

With Surtain and Darby manning the outside, I doubt we go CB in the first. I do think we will draft a CB somewhere in the second or third round, if we end up keeping our first 5 picks in the top 100. It also depends on if they still believe in Ojemudia.

I could see some depth signings in free agency. Maybe a trade if a team is looking to clear some cap room.

If Hamilton or Gardner are there, I could see a trade down with someone like Philadelphia who has multiple picks and needs at CB and safety.

Pairing Hamilton with Simmons is tempting, though.

True I agree. We may add depth to the position in FA too. But i do have my eye on a D2 CB that may go in the 4th 5th rd. That's tall and good ball skills. Just wanna see how he runs.

I don't imagine we go CB that early, but I do expect us to draft a couple for depth and development.
Although we all love Simmons and would like to see him finish his career in Denver, his contract is not so team friendly. We need to draft another (Sterns) good S prospect in the chance he doesn't restructure in '23 or '24. Simmons cap hits are 18+ million in both of those seasons with only 7 and 3.5 million dead. Those are huge savings of 11 and 15 million.

          Which brings us to...
Jaquan Brisker S Penn State -This guy does everything from high end run stopping to his coverage that was top ranked for P5 conferences since 2019. Everyone is high on Hamilton for his length and his potential, but Brisker is going to be highly coveted. I am hoping he just might slide to us in the second.

If we go safety I like markquese bell...like 6'2 1/2 about 210....he kinda reminds of of a ralen Ramsey at safety. In the later rds

I think its very possible we could go corner. When we took Surtain last year I wasn't too shocked even though we had signed 2 corners. I knew Callahan was going to be a FA and Fuller was also just on a 1 year deal. Most of the league is basically at the point where you need 3 starting caliber cornerbacks on your roster. If you're lacking that depth you'll get exposed badly.

So right now we have Surtain and Darby as locked in guys for the room, the rest is pretty fluid. I anticipate us taking 2 corners in this draft if we don't make a big splash in FA at the position. Where that ends up being probably will be determined by who's available at which pick but there are definitely an intriguing crop of corners. I'm seeing a lot of height throughout the position this draft. Of the top 13 CB or so from cbssports only one is listed below 6'.

Obviously the top guys could be discussed at 9 and I think could make sense for us there depending on who is/isn't there, but later on one player I've seen clips of is Martin Emerson. Great size for a corner, seems fluid and also will play physical.

I think we'll need a slot corner at least, but I'd like to see them get a boundary corner or a corner with versatility. I don't know what the plan is at safety, but I think they'll give Sterns a shot. If they do, then just get somebody late for depth.

I like Kyler Gordon and I like Marcus Jones later if they want a slot corner who more resembles a specialist. A more boundary-oriented guy I like in the appropriate range would be Coby Bryant. For a little more versatility, give me Derion Kendrick if he's still there. Then you've got a handful of guys I'd consider at various points if we miss out. Guys like Jobe, Evans, Goodrich, etc. Speaking of Akayleb Evans. I want to see what he runs.

I really wish we had waited a year to take a safety though, because Jalen Pitre might be my favorite player in the draft.

depends bro. i think Willis, Picket and Corral would have to be ff. if that happens then there is a good chance f Hamilton or another elite prospect (maybe Thibs) dropping. but i think all 3 of those would have to be gone before Ilooked else where

Oh I don't want a cb. I want a qb like hell drafted in this year 1st rd. Preferably not pickett.

Woolen has a good athletic profile. Very good. Would be interesting to see how they'd use him. Same with a guy like Pitre. I see Pitre as a SS with versatility. Woolen has the athleticism/size combination to be a great boundary corner, I think. There's just a lot of things he needs to improve on. I think Woolen would make a good safety as well. Don't know if I'd want him lined up in the slot much, but that's not to say he's not a rare athlete. That's just not the ideal place for him, IMO.

I like jones because hes good at both cb and returner. Thats why i also want watson. I think they both can contirbute not just at their position but on special teams as well. Im tired of carrying spencer as a returner when he does little to contribute otherwise or even as a returner

i think woolen has that versatility to play a hybrid cb/ss role. He has the necessary athleticism, it would be more if he can do it mentally

i want athletic, versitle smart players that will finish every play.
