  • Signed Max Borghi. Receiving back. Went undrafted, got signed by Colts, and got cut. He can make guys miss, and he's a good receiver. Has a little speed.

The #Bears have received calls and have held trade talks centered around OT Teven Jenkins, sources tell me and @MikeGarafolo. The former 2nd round pick has drawn interest based on his potential. A situation to watch.

I know people were really high on this kid last year as a potentail starting Tackle. Sounds like he has an issue with the coaching staff, and that the staff believes that Jenkins has maturity issues.

The kid has talent, and maybe a change of scenery would do him well.
Maturity issues, plays with a mean streak, holds a little more than you’d like, sounds like another OT we have. Seriously though, if they’re intent on trading him, I’d be on the phone asap. Love the way he plays and while he’s not a outside zone lineman, he plays angry and I don’t think you can have too many angry olinemen.

Get him and Hamler on the field occasionally and that would create matchup problems for defenses using their 3rd and 4th DB's to cover them.
        Fuller totally ?!!

This! I've seen rumors about trading for Roquan Smith, but the Bears aren't going to settle for a 3rd and 4th round pick in return. They just don't have anything to deal with.

          • Roquan Smith will cost too much and won't likely have a major impact on the Bronco's defense. He is good but not all that great, IMO. I would pass on him.
Malik Reed is at least a solid pass rusher ... I see a Shaq Barrett thing again; keep him for at least another year ... you can't have too many pass rushers.

I think the Broncos have the talent at WR still and don't need to sign a FA or make a trade at the WR position. Also, they have the TE's to somewhat cover for the loss of Patrick, especially with Albert O.

It is possible Roquan Smith might not crack the starting lineup in Denver's D. Of all the guys who might be traded to recover some draft capital, Malik Reed seems the most possible to me given the great depth at Outside Backer. Since Denver needs to recover some draft picks for next year, don't see trading draft pick(s) for a player; a player for a player is possible. Broncos seem to have plenty of WRs and, as you say, Albert O. and Dulcich can fill Tim Patrick's role.

              • As much as I would like to see some draft picks added for next year, I am reluctant to want the depth at any position compromised by trading it away.

It is a long season and injuries occur. The better the quality of the depth the better the Broncos will absorb the injuries when they occur. I cringe every time I see an article or comment stating how “Olineman X should be traded for a pick next year”.

Look no further then Patrick as an example of how quickly depth at a position can change.

Yeah, he reminds me a lot of Danny Woodhead. He is a scrappy guy and if he makes the roster will certainly contribute.

Like Austin Ekeler, an RMAC guy.

And both Borghi and Ekeler were local Denver area HS players.

                            • Seems like a quality player from the stats. Any thoughts on why he was still a free agent?

From what I can see probably the contract he signed with Pittsburgh. 5 yr 55 mil. About 20 guaranteed. Releasing him now probably not much of guaranteed money left on the deal. They saved about 8 mil against the cap by doing so. Probably looking to get younger.

Then as to why he hadn't been signed yet? Guessing everyone had a plan in the draft to get a guy. Maybe some teams were interested but they were rebuilding and he wasnt interested and was waiting for the right opportunity to sign with a contender.

Or his skills have diminished and we'll be the last ones to know. (I sincerely doubt this, Paton seems to always do his homework but it is possible and a tough thing to try to project if a guy has anything left in the tank.)
