  • Draft Pick Simulation

I've been doing several draft simulations based on PFF rankings. Here's my best one, and would think it would be a good outcome if we stay with the pick we have.

2nd round: pk 64 - Brian Asamoah, LB Oklahoma
3rd round: pk 75 - Martin Emerson, CB Mississippi State
3rd round: pk 96 - Max Mitchell, T Ragin Cajuns
    4th round: pk 115 - JoJo Domann, LB/S Nebraska
4th round: pk 116 - Zach Tom, T/G Wake Forest
5th round: pk 145 -Zyon McCollum, CB Sam Houston State
6th round: pk 206 Hassan Haskins, RB Michigan
7th round: pk 232 DJ Dale, DL Alabama

    I love it!
I probably would go with Marcus Jones from Houston over Emerson, DT Neil Farre over Zach Tom , and Pacheco from Rutgers over Haskins.

PFF Simulator is fun to mess around on.

Last night after watching the Turner signing I was playing around without the OT “need”.

The draft fell into place with defensive speed as the first few picks.
      Q. Walker LB,
      M. Jones CB/ Ret,
      N. Cross Safety.

Then next three went OT, RB, TE if I remember correctly.

Point being, the way Paton has set this up they can draft with a little more freedom without the need to fill specific holes.

      Have fun with those drafts!

I like Marcus Jones, he's just not been there in the simulations I'm doing. I keep seeing and reading alot on Zyon McCollum at CB. I think he'll be a late round jewel. Crazy thing is on every single one, Asomoah has been at the top of every board I have. I'd also love to see Domann get picked. He's listed as LB but was used a lot as a slot cover guy in Nebraska. He's undersized as true LB but would be a great hybrid that can cover TE's.

I've seen a slew of OT's mocked to us when disregarding the picks we no longer have. Nick Petit-Frere, Bernhard Raimann, Daniel Faalele, Sean Rhyan, Abraham Lucas.

*Upon Edit: These are names I've seen across multiple mocks.

This would be my want list based on where they're being projected:

G/C - Dohnovan West / Cole Strange / Luke Fortner
            T - Nicholas Petit-Frere / Spencer Burford / Kellen Diesch
TE - Daniel Bellinger / Jeremy Ruckert / Derrick Deese (Don't know if I could pass on McBride at 64 if he fell though)
WR - Danny Gray / Tyquan Thornton
DE - Phidarian Mathis / Matt Henningsen
NT - Noah Elliss / John Ridgeway
ED - DeAngelo Malone / Sam Williams / Dominique Robinson
LB - Chad Muma / Darrian Beavers / Brandon Smith (even though I don't think they would draft him)
            S - Bryan Cook / Markquese Bell
CB - Mario Goodrich / Cardale Flott / Marcus Jones / Jack Jones

I haven't spent much time watching the running backs this year. Lot of them look good though. This might be a draft where you wait, but Paton clearly likes what he likes at RB.

Keep an eye out for Jerome Ford at RB - day 2 / 3 pick for sure

Daniel Faalele needs to lose about forty pounds if he wants to zone step in the NFL. That would help his pass blocking, too. Have no idea how to lose forty pounds. Maybe like the wrestlers; put on the rubber suit and get in the mat room with the heat turned all the way up and go hard at it for hours, then don't eat anything but salad.

I'll check him out. I've already seen a couple day three guys who look like they could be steals. Typically it's small school guys or guys with some kind of issue like pass pro or underutilization. I think that's where you really make hay at RB.

I like J. Ford too. Good size and speed combo.

I am fine with drafting a RB higher then most. Realistically, that #116 pick has several RBs all lumped together that would be solid additions. Robinson ALA, Cook Georgia, Ford, Allgeier BYU, White AZ St..... Pick your poison!

Especially advocate for it if the Broncos do not bring back Gordon or add another vet RB. I've read some nice things about Boone (STs a plus) but an impact RB to help carry the load with Williams would be sweet.

We already have a thread for this, but I like the mock.

Speaking on Daniel Faalele, I am not high on him at all. These monster OL who are slow don’t do well, IMO.

Guys I'm liking so far. I haven't watched much Walker or Hall yet.

                        Isaiah Spiller
                        Dameon Pierce
                        Zonovan Knight
                        Zamir White
                        Hassan Haskins
                        Abram Smith

I don't know what they're going to do as far as Boone goes. I don't know if the plan is Boone at RB2, heavy Williams with a change of pace complimentary back, or someone who can step in and do some Gordon things in a time share.

So this is my timeshare, do your best Gordon impersonation list. Plus, this is the type of RB I like.

I like him. He's an all around running back. No weaknesses. If you want a guy who's ready to roll as a solid 3 down back, he's a great option. I'd put him top ten, but I do have guys higher, and that's personal preference. There's a type I like, and the only exception I make to that is a unique package of talent. I will say this though, if Ford goes to the right team, he can be a star. Guy is complete.

I'll also say this too, and put myself out there a bit. So glad we got Wilson, because I forgot how bad Ridder is at times. So glad I don't have to worry about us drafting him. I've said before in here that I think Ridder has the talent to be the best QB in this class. Sometimes talent lies though. I think you gotta be a real optimist to draft Ridder hoping for his ceiling.

I feel he will be off the board by pick 64.
