  • Best AFCW Running Backs to ever play...

I saw the little blurp from Bill Williamson on ESPN where he ranked them as follows:

    1. LT
    2. Marcus Allen
    3. TD
    4. Floyd Little
    5. Priest Holmes

Not bad...but my take would be:

    1. LT (So many good consistent years before these past couple. Was great even on a bad team early in his career)

    2. TD (He was amazing when he played and accomplished more in a short career than most do in a long career)

    3. Marcus Allen - I almost kept him at 2 because he was very very good. But I still think TD was better and if he played a longer career would of had much more impressive numbers than Allen. But Allen was great.

    4. Bo Jackson!! - Yes, his career was short. But this guy was an animal! I wish he would of had a longer career because he was so amazing.

    5. Floyd Little - To be 100% honest this is purely a homer pick because I was torn on a few others for this spot. I never watched Little play because it was well before my time. I only gave him the nod because of the Hall of Fame. I was also thinking about Holmes and Dorsett (if he counts).

Maybe it's just the homer in me, but I'll take TD

He got 2000+ yards despite sitting out 8 FULL QUARTERS because we were blowing out the other team.

LT had it all power speed moves and a nose for the End zone. I wont hold it against him that some idiot started calling himn LT when everyone knows LT is #56

Allen dude got in Al Davises dog house and was screwed for a few years or who knows what might have been

TD coulda, might haves and should have beens clouded his beastly but short carrer. I still cuss Greise for the pick,Leppis for being that far down feild(to much effort lol) and TD for even trying to make the tackle but you can put the nose tackle at RB and he is still a nose tackle at heart lol

Bo he only played half seasons and his injury was almost as freakish as TD.the things this guy did with no football training comming in week6-8 and then tearing off chunks of yardage like his whole life was geared to football.Bo knows amazing and could have easily been number 1 on this list if we are going on pure talent and not carrer accomplishments.

if we are going on pure potential and not longevity or stats my list is like this

BO second best Agility best speed Best power best football instincts

LT best Agility second best speed third power tied for second best football instincts

TD was extreemly good at everything but probably not the best in anything I will give him second in power running he always seemed to get at least 2 yards no matter where they hit him in the back feild the one thing we have not had since TD IMH.

Marcus allen same as Terrel Davis except I tied him with LT for second best Iistinct dude could score TDs like nobodys bussiness even when he was old

LT as number 1? I dont know about that, maybe if we are talking about in the regular season only , because that dude stunk in the playoffs.

If I could bring back a young version of a running back from any era and any team to play for us, Bo Jackson would be my choice.
I'd put a no baseball clause in his contract, and if he stayed healthy, wow!

Anyway, I thought I throw in Christian Okoye as well. I wouldn't put him on my top 5 list, but he is worthy of consideration. He was extremely dominant too. Teams feared the Chiefs, mainly due to him.

Also the best rb ever when it comes to playoff games which is most important, while LT last 5 playoff games have been, well terrible.

Based on numbers and championships it would have to be Marcus Allen.

                    Based on postseason production TD.

Based on sheer awesomeness of epic it would be Bo Jackson.

he didn't stink in the playoffs, he didn't have a lot of opportunities to shine in the playoffs when he was healthy and in his prime.

besides, RB's are judged by what they do in the regular season mainly, when talking about their careers.

floyd little never even made it to the playoffs and he is in the HOF and on that top 5 list, that proves my point right there.

also, i would rank it exactly like bill will did, i wouldn't put TD before marcus allen but he would definitely be third on the list IMO.

obviously its not most important to most people outside of donkeyville, when judging the career of positional players.

also, your point about LT's last 5 games in the playoffs is irrelevant. LT will be judged by what he did when he was healthy and dominate, not at the end of his career or when he was injured.

Tomlinson will be judged by the entirety of his career, which was impressive -- his lack of production in the playoffs will be little but a distant sidenote.
