so you don't think manning or elway lost players before winning their superbowls?

i agree they need to fill holes but they still have the draft and all of free agency left.

if we are having this conversation in the pre-season, then we have a problem.

We lost Cro, Cason is better suited for SD's defense. He might not be a better CB. But he is better suited to play the 2 spot in SD than Cro.

Upgrade. Gregory is a good nickle. Actually very very good nickle. They sign strickland who when healthy was good at the nickle in NYJ.

They had 3 other NT's on IR with Jamal and Nwagbuo who was a undrafted rookie last year played well once he took over.

So what ever SD has at NT over what they had in 09, when they were down to their 5th NT will be an upgrade over the 13-3 season.

      2 UPGRADES so far.

They get rid of LT, who lets face it had a 3.3 YPC and led the way for the 31st ranked rushing offense. Chances are very slim whatever we have in 2010 won't be a big upgrade from 09, when we went 13-3.

Then we go Hardwick back healthy. UPGRADE!

Only loss I'm kinda sad about is Brandon Manumaluna. Due to his blocking. Due Wilson is better as a receiver.

Downgraded? The CBA saved the Chargers...they got to keep the players they wanted. Trust me...the guys they lost weren't the future of this team.

But, the real point is that SD is in need of a NT, RB, CB, OT (in that order)....in one of the deepest drafts ever for NT and RB.

The Bolts just upgraded.....addition by substraction.

Agree 100%....even ESPN said no team benifited by an uncapped season more then the Chargers. There is a strong posibility they could have lost much more valuable players if it were business as usuall for the NFL this year.

NT, Dan Williams wont be there at 28. Cody is a major reach with his weight issues. Maybe Cam Thomas in the 2nd Round, but with many teams going to the 3-4 he may not be there.

RB, outside of Spiller, this RB class is nothing too great. Dwyer has questions and Matthews could be SD's pick at 28, havent seen much of him.

CB, it's a loaded at CB, but SD already has Jammer, Cason, Gregory, Strickland..

OT, it's a good class, i dont know if they would spend a 1st on an OT though.

This is a good class at RB. With Spiller, Best, Dwyer and Matthews leading the way. SD will land one in the 1st. Then Cody can fall in the 2nd and SD could trade up in the 2nd to get him. Don't know much about OT's in the class, but if a good one is available snatch him in the 3rd or get more CB depth in the 3rd as this is a great class at CB.

I unlike other SD fans I don't think we are in need at NT. Nwagbuo played very well as a UDFA in his rookie year in his first stint at a 3 gaper. I think SD feels comfortable going with him. But I wouldn't mind getting Cody if available.

I don't think SD is in dire need at CB. Just RB and a stud at RT. Clary is solid, but could use a upgrade. SD could use some good CB depth however.
