Yep. AJ wanted to bring on Cottrell but Marty wouldn't do it. Guess we all know how that one went.

To AJ's credit, he made the right call and let Cottrell go during midseason -- that took guts IMO.

Well in 07 when he hired Cottrell it worked out fine. SD was top 5 defense, #1 in ints and take aways and went to the SB. They also picked off Brady 3 times in the AFCC game. Our offense was too decimated to do any real damage in that game.
