This move by AJ Smith is probably not the best decision for his football team's success, but I gotta say I love it. Since San Diego is not my team, I don't really care about how it may negatively effect the Chargers, but I love that he is putting VJ in his place.
You signed the contract. Nobody put a gun to your head and made you sign. Be a man and honor your contract, then get your pay day.
He was offered a tender of over 3 million dollars. You're gonna tell me he couldn't have played 1 year @ 3 million dollars and then got his pay day after that?
Its just greed.
I thought it was big of Chris Johnson to compromise on his contract. If anyone has outplayed his contract, its Chris Johnson. He showed some maturity by choosing to be there for his teammates rather than hold out.
And the funniest part is, if Vincent Jackson holds out this season, he will STILL be under contract with the Chargers next year. So he really accomplishes nothing by holding out. If he would have just shown up to work and played this season, he would be looking at unrestricted free agency next season. Instead he's gonna be sitting here next year in the exact same situation. Not only that, but I'm pretty sure he's getting fined for every day he holds out, or every game, something like that. So instead of making 3 million this year, he's actually LOSING money.
AJ Smith probably should have taken that Minnesota offer, but as a 3rd party who has no investment in the well-being of the Chargers organization, I love that he's doing this. I hate seeing these diva players get their way with no repercussions.
