I would be surprised if he didn't atleast bring him in for a work out. We only have two OLB's healthy right now. Elvis is on IR, and Robert Ayers is going to miss atleast six games. The only other LB that can play outside is Mario Haggan, but he's been really good at SILB. We either need to promote someone from the practice squad or bring someone new in.

when healthy, if a team that runs the 3-4 that has a good DL picks him up, i think he could dominate again.

or at the very least he will make the guys around him better. funny thing is, even now when he did play in the raiders game, he was still getting double teamed i noticed lol

That being said, we desperately need an outside LB that could even be considered mediocre and if Merriman is available and healthy, he's probably the best option out there. I wouldn't sign him to a multiple year deal though, since ayers and doom are going to be our guys ultimately. We just need a substitute for the rest of the year.

Your assuming he can make it through 2 or 3 games in a row without having to sit out a few more with a nagging injury. Best bet for him is to not push it & get himself ready for next year, sign a 1 year deal with incentives, & then hope to cash in on a new deal in 2012 if he can be productive. I just dont see him being that productive this year since he hasnt been able to play 2 games in a row.

Do we know for sure that we're going to have a 2011 season? If we don't, and with the world ending December 21, 2012 and all, he could be hosed if he fails to land with a team this year.
