  • what is the biggest choke job recently?

    1. the broncos back to back campaigns where they blew 3 game leads in the division including a 3 game lead with only 3 games to go in 2008.

    2. the chargers choke to the jets last year in the playoffs where they were the home favorites coming off a first round bye.

    3. the chargers meltdown this year where they have one of the best offense and defenses (statistically) yet they are 2-5 due to sloppy play.

i still think the worst choke is the broncos meltdowns the last two years but depending on how this season pans out, i think this years chargers team could rival it in my opinion.

yeah the chargers are chokers for sure.....along with the broncos of course.

    Too soon to tell, really.

I think the Chargers were pretty highly touted before their 8-8 season as well, I think that's worth noting.

Both were choke jobs, but it's gotta be the Broncos here, especially '09.

2010 Chargers still have a chance... if they go on a winning spree like they did last year in which nobody saw coming.

The Chargers have had more talent than the Broncos for atleast 5 years now, so it has to be the Chargers.

The Broncos have been average with little talent. The Chargers have done little with quite a lot.

except they still made the playoffs and beat indy on the road in the playoffs that year.

the broncos have a lot of talent actually, they have more talent on the defensive side of the ball than the chargers do.

besides, if you start rationalizing like that you open a whole new can of worms. judging by the facts, which was a bigger choke?

because lets face it, the broncos were good enough and talented enough to get their 3 game leads in the division.

yet they choked it away, those are the facts.

Baph, you have the world's best, low-hanging fruit available and didn't use it. I'm disappointed.

I don't care who chokes where or how, nothing compares to what happened in Denver last weekend. I can't describe how I felt sitting there at that game, directly in front of the people I sat by, the way it happened, where it happened, while wearing my Jackson jersey - for the one game a year I insist that all my family members attend (or I threaten to cancel the tickets - it's a bluff but it gets them to cancel their crap for this one game a year).

              Unbelievable.

I can't vote on this pole, as the actual answer isn't an option.

I think you should have added the Patriots. Thier perfect season ending in flames was fairly epic. (It will be remembored a lot more than the choices here.)

I dont really understand how any of them can really be considered choke jobs. It's not like any of them were favored to win the super bowl or anything. The Broncos started fast and lost games down the stretch of those seasons, but just because their losses came later in the season opposed to early, doesnt mean that anyone labled them world beaters.

well based on Charger fans constantly reminding us only the present is relevant, and the past no longer matters i voted 2010 Chargers, choking like a dog with a sideways chicken bone in it's throat.

No, we don't have a lot of talent, in fact in 08' we fielded what was possibly the worst defense in the history of the NFL.

I've done a lot of thinking about this, and the reality is we have 2 or 3 pro-bowl quality players on each side of the ball, at the most. Having 2 or 3 playmakers on each side of the ball is not even close to a recipe for championships.

I guess I have to add the 03 Chiefs postseason

I'd say 2010 Chargers, playoff favorites, and stumbling harder out of the gate than before.
However, 08-09 Denver deserves honorable mention.

simply put....that was one regular season game.

also, i don't know if i consider that a choke really. not saying Denver is that bad but it pails in comparison to the overall chokes listed in the poll.

Denver could have lost 70-0 to the raiders and it wouldn't have been as bad as being up 3 games with only 3 games to go then choking it away, that's as bad as it gets as far as choking in the regular season IMO

as far as choking is concerned at least.

it matters when its relevant to the topic, that is what so many of you fail to understand.
