  • norv turner: excuse maker extraordinaire

I’m hoping that we can get more of our guys practicing throughout the week because it is obvious to me that it has taken a toll,” Turner said Monday. “There is no way you can go out and play at a high level. You can do it one week. You might do it two weeks -- and I’m talking about it at a number of spots where we have had guys miss practice. It catches up to you, and it kind of caught up to us (in Sunday’s loss to Oakland).

really coach? because i thought we have done just fine for weeks with virtually the same injures until we ran into the raiders.

i also wasn't aware we had so many injuries on defense and that is why we got shredded for 250 yards on the ground.....

norv is so good at reverting blame from himself and its pretty freaking pathetic.

i know we have had injuries that has plagued us but we have won despite them. every team has injuries, man up.....quit crying....and pull your head out of your ass.

i am tired of the excuses.

I dont like Norv. But with 70+ activated to the roster and SD leading the league in injuries is the reason.. Not the answer you should hear from the HC tho. We are a mediocre team right now and thats it..

Our D had plenty of injuries and McD never talked about that which is at least 1 point to his favor. Indy the Titans and the Chargers are the only teams that are complaining.

Still you cant control injuries bt you cant blame your loss on those injuries you have to do the best with what you got.

I agree. However, I am not too sure what injuries the Chargers have, not out of ignorance, but I don't have the time to research it at the moment.

I am pretty sure that the Chargers were playing at a high level for the past several weeks though.

he said "there is no way you can play at a high level" when we did exactly that with virtually the same injuries for the last month.

not only that but most those key injuries are on the offensive side of the ball and special teams, yet our run defense got torched.

i don't hate norv but that is excuse making at its worst and from the sounds of it, he is giving up on the season because we have a lot of injuries.

seems to me that he is desperate to keep is job and is doing everything he can to revert blame from himself.

          its pathetic.

are the titans and colts complaining publicly? or are people outside of the organization just making excuses for it in the media?

people were making excuses for manning left and right but i don't think i have seen them actually make excuses for it.

Official Chargers injury report as of Week 13

(I bolded and underlined players who I think would make a significant difference if they were reasonably healthy)

Cooper, Stephen - ILB - Knee
Crayton, Patrick - WR - Wrist
Floyd, Malcom - WR - Hamstring
Gates, Antonio - TE - Toe / Foot
Gregory, Steve - SS - Shoulder
Jackson, Vincent - WR - Calf
Johnson, Travis - DT - Shoulder
              Mathews, Ryan - RB Ankle
Strickland, Donald - DB - Hip
Tolbert, Mike - FB - Hand
              Vasquez, Louis - G - Neck
Wilson, Kris - TE - Back

              ---

But no excuses. Every team has is dealing with injuries this late in the season. It's Norv Turners job as head coach to "coach-up" those backups to perform at a winning level.

Rivers is deciding to play bad, just to see how it feels.

If you look closely at the pic below Norf is really not the one in control of the Chargers (or himself)

Is it to late for the Broncos to use the injury excuse for getting thrashed by the Raider too? We got our butts handed to us plain and simple and all I can say is that it wont be happening to Josh McDaniels again.

LOL Precisely Joshs response to that game lets just pretend it never happened and move on LOL. Still after losing that big sometimes thats the best thing to do.

It's amazing to me how hypocritical Rodger Goodell is. On one hand he claims to be looking out for players safety, but on the other hand, he is adding 2 regular season games when it is clear that almost all teams can barely make it to the playoffs standing on two legs.

                        It's pretty sad.

The same can be said for the players many of those claiming we dont need them policing us were the same complaining about the extra games.

i don't think we've played at a high level since beating zona and the jags actually

sure we killed denver, but come on, we didn't score 59 on them....

we beat the titans by only 8, and the texans by a mere 6

indy , was a murder sure, but no passing tds, and an indy team that's in injury shambles like us, and we pretty much already own their souls so that blowout shoulda been expected, us healthy, it probably woulda been 70-14

hell now that i think of it, even vs the jags we looked sloppy as hell on offense
