Also, Rivers won his debut on a really good team against a POS Raiders team, 27-0.
The defense was incredible, Rivers had been sitting on the bench for 2 years, and was only asked to throw 11 passes.
Tebow was starting for a terrible 3-10 team against the Raiders fighting for a playoff spot in his rookie season. There really is no comparison between the two starts.

As you can see a VAST majority of delusional Tebowmaniacs flood this board going so far as saying (and implying) Tebow is the next Elway and will be even better than Elway (and Rivers) because of his 0-1 start and how he ran and passed and his passer rating for his very first start. I realize how excited donk fans are (and have been) about Tebow in a donkey uniform considering how horrible things have been for Bronco fans. Tebow is their last and only hope of saving the franchise (so it seems), the Broncos last ditch effort, grasping at his jock strap for even just a sniff.
Here's the issue: Donkey fans have elevated and overrated so many draft picks and FA's the past 5 years that have turned into flops its hard to believe donk fans anymore. Since the face of the Broncos franchise retired Bronco fans have been all talk and no walk concerning the playoffs and now, as of late, the regular season. What I'm saying is quit the hype already and just wait and see. That does not mean don't be excited for something fresh and new, just don't be so delusional about it.
Lets face it, Tebow has a lot of critics who don't believe that he'll make it in the NFL as a QB for some very viable reasons. These are not just some shmuck opinions, these are opinions from draft experts and coaches, etc. who have studied lots of film on Tebow before the draft. We all know he's a good person, has passion, and likes to work hard and is very competitive (wants to win) but that is no reason to glaze over reality and think that those intangibles and character traits will guarantee his success in the NFL.
Is Tebow the ONLY NFL player that has ever been drafted with those types of intangibles and so his success is a LOCK?
Regardless of his intangibles, there are two irrefutable tangibles that will prevent Tebow from becoming a great QB in the NFL:
1) Running (guaranteed he will get hurt, just a matter of time)
2) Release (slow, cumbersome release resulting in sacks and interceptions)
Unless Tebow learns to become primarily a passer he won't last long in the NFL. Unless Tebow learns to release the ball faster and get his footwork down he'll become just another int machine and eventually get kicked to the curb as 2nd or 3rd string QB
Tebow kept all of his teammates pumped up and energized to the effect that they were protecting him on the field like he was a family member. He continued to make plays and fought for every inch that the Raiders would give him. All of which was done on one week’s practice with the first team Offense.
Sure he made mistakes and will need to try avoiding contact better. Say what you want but he was polarizing to watch and I could not wait to see what he was going to do next on every snap. I for one cannot wait to see what he will mold into as an NFL QB. And yes, as far as I am concerned, he has shown that he has what it takes to be an NFL QB. He will only learn from every game he plays in and get better from this point on because it appears to me that that is how he plays the game.

I'm not sure if I totally buy the whole "he won't last taking hits" kinda thing.
If you look around, a lot of QB's get the hell smacked out of them, and they aren't built anything like Tebow. Favre lasted forever taking an absurd beating and he always stayed in because he's tough.
Face it, a lot of QB's aren't tough. A lot of QB's can't play with injuries your average running back plays through.
Ben Roethlisberger is tough, Brett Favre is tough, Steve McNair was tough. They play with injuries that would sideline the majority of QB's. Philip Rivers takes nasty injuries, and as much as I hate him, he's really tough.
Tebow is simply tough. He won't miss games unless his arm is broken in half. His athletic ability allows him to miss as many hits as it does get him into hits. How many times has Orton gotten completely drilled on plays where Tebow could have avoided the rush and thrown a deep pass?
All of Tebow's runs yesterday were called QB draws. It won't be like that forever. Tebow will use his athleticism to buy him time to throw. Yes he'll take off time to time, but he's not running 10 times a game for the rest of his career.

Vick is also in the run for MVP along with Brady (where is Rivers in this conversation? LMAO!).
Tebow can run, he's big enough to take the hits. Will he get injured? At some point he probably will if he run's the ball 10-15 times a game, but I also don't think he's going to be running it 10-15 times a game.
Tebows unique traits (ability to run and pass) are what makes him special. How many QB's in the league have that ability? Not many, which makes him unique.
The fact that Tebow remains a mystery scares you Doltman, you witnessed his first start hoping for utter failure yet it was a success. Inspite of your prayers he succeded in his first start.
Will he be as good as Rivers? Who the heck knows! You nor I know, but it is a possibility that he becomes great, or a complete and utter failure.
Sit back and enjoy the show Doltman, and prepare to be embarassed by Tebow in week 17.
Secondly, you want to put a sig bet on that week 17 hot garbage you spewed??

You think you would have learned this from your past debate's with Cutler.
Point is it wasn't on Tebow.
Orton would have lost by 40 (actually, he did).

This is why his career will probably be over in the NFL if he continues on this same path. He is NOT a drop back passer, plain and simple. It will take him years to learn how to drop back and fire the ball quickly, something he NEVER did in college. He's a scrambler, like Vick, less the quickness, footwork, and speed of release. The Broncos coaching staff, if Tebow is going to be their starter, need to develop a special "run first, pass second" system like the system he was in all throughout college. These types of "system packages" specially designed for Tebow will be the ONLY way he can succeed in the NFL, that is if the Broncos want to completely change their offense to adapt to Tebow and not the other way around.

The Broncos rookie showed leadership and playmaking skills. But he still looks like he's playing in college.
One game, and the hearts of Tim Tebow Nation went from a steady pitter-patter … straight to the full bore pounding of a Led Zeppelin drum solo. Yes, his first NFL start was encouraging, but the tidal wave of Twitter posts about Tebow “doing his thing,” well, they’re a little premature.
Tebow Nation doesn’t want to hear that since it owns the most fanatical form of zealotry I have ever seen with any player, to the point that even constructively criticizing Tebow in even the slightest way sets off a low-level earthquake. But at the risk of causing a natural disaster, this should be said:
If the Denver Broncos rookie quarterback’s game is built on playing the way he did against the Raiders, he won’t last.
While CBS announcer Gus Johnson was euphoric about Tebow’s dirty uniform – likening it to something you’d see on a left tackle – all I saw was a quarterback who took a lot of hits in his first start. His 40-yard touchdown run was electrifying. But Tebow also doesn’t appear to know how to slide, and that’s not a good thing. Even a quarterback as big as he is at 245 pounds can’t take an eight-carry beating every game, and still hold up for an entire season as a dual-role passer.
I could not have said this any better myself. One cannot even remotely criticize Tebow or else the donk nation blows up and starts crying. It is true about the fanatical zealotry that so many donk fans display but this is nothing new. The donk drafts and FA's that have put on a donkey uniform and pads since 2006 have nearly all been hyped up by the donkey nation but this is taking it to a whole new level in the euphoria surrounding Tebow.
I recall all the donk zealots pumping up Cutler as the next Elway then they kicked him to the curb. Now we have Tebow, who will not last in the NFL if he is going to play like he did yesterday. You donkeys better start looking around for a real QB if you expect to compete in the AFC and get to the playoffs someday .

That being said he did show some flashes of athletic ability. He has great passion for the game. To answer your question no he will not survive if he runs alot in the NFL. No QB does. The biggest problem i have with the guy is he doesnt get the ball out quickly. Its ok to have a quirky delivery as long as its quick ie: Phil Rivers. Timmy has a long way to go. He's such a fine person Ill be rootin for him
