  • Is tebow smart enough to make it?

OK, I had to join the forum since the Broncos are my 3rd favorite team in the AFC West...and I just watched a Tim Tebow interview on ESPN where he came off maybe not as smart as he really is, judging by the sigh and sarcastic comments of the interviewer after it was over...though she did say, "Well at least he gives a good YO ADRIAN" in reference to his Rocky impersonation. Personally I like him...his faith, attitude and abilities, but have doubts...

Will Tebow make it or be another runner who throws at 50% and muscles his teams through some assemblence of a season?

The question seems to be, "Will he correct the basic fundamental flaws of his game required to be a good or great QB in the NFL." These are fundamentals taught in Pop Warner ball, some learn in high school, most become proficient with in college and a some refine in the pros...maybe he can...?? His footwork and throwing technique (certainly important to master) is only part of the reason he is a 50% passer. Certainly he can learn how to read defenses better if his mind/body can adapt and integrate fast enough to be the QB Bronco fans hope he will become.

Players love him and he certainly has an aura of "Win at all cost" which is a definite asset. He does seem a little slow mentally though, or maybe he is just that calm and simple in his remarks. He almost appeared stoned in his interview today. Is that normal for him? Maybe that is just bliss. I am not here to knock anyone for being happy. His interviews appear to be telepromted and that could make him look dumber than he is. If they aren't telepromted I might be worried as a Broncos fan. It is early to tell, but I am curious what you Bronco fans really think.

    GO CHIEFS!

    Huh?

Tebow not smart enough to play? Laughable.

            Football isnt rocket science bud.

Even someone like you could gradually learn the game. Over a LONG time of course.

lol come on you delirious chief fan, has it been then that long since you've tasted post season football ?! I know it has been for me.

But really, I think you're looking too much into it. Tim's a bright guy if you ask me and I'm sure his team would agree.

                  Remember, he's just a rookie.

Na, the little fella obviously just wanted to start a little smack talk, but can't seem to find his way around a message board....it's a good thing he's not a QB.

I have a question for you when was the last time the Chiefs won a playoff game????

                            1997??? Nope... 1998???...... Nope

                            1993

This is what you should be worried about not Tim Tebow...

I actually think this is a bit of a legitimate question. It's actually my primary concern about Tebow. More than mechanic discussions or anything, I wonder how fast he'll be at learning NFL defenses and where his knowledge plateau will be in regards to the NFL. I do not doubt his heart or his will.

I have no idea if the SAT scores that were being used to taunt him during his college career were accurate. I've never researched it. But if they are, it is worrisome. His wonderlic (I believe I spelled that right) score wasn't very impressive to me either. Try taking some example wonderlic questions. I'd hope most wouldn't find them too challenging. I did have a chance to compare his scores on that to other QBs and I was actually surprised by a number of scores from various NFL players. Some who I figured wouldn't be all that impressive were. And some who I expected to be off the charts were not. So I don't know how that really translates to the NFL.

There is a mental aspect to the QB position that can't be undervalued. And if we're honest, we have a guy running around at the QB position who believes in talking snakes and worse. Thankfully, rationality is only necessary to a certain point in football. I do think that he may have a longer learning curve than many other QBs when it comes to reading schemes and figuring out adjustments that have been made to counter him. I hope I'm wrong, but it's just the impression I have. I do think that there's plenty of aspects in his game that can lead him to success despite some of the flaws he may have.
