elway never had the worst special teams in NFL history either. but what he did have was multiple years missing the playoffs an choking until he was finally carried to his first championship at the end of his career.

    must be average, right? lol

The difference between Elway and Rivers is one of them went to the big show multiple times (we can even take away the Sb wins he got "carried to" if it makes you feel better) the other has never even been there and has only really even been close once....

Also Elway was rarely one and done in the playoffs unlike another QB who I think needs no introduction.

Rivers throughout most of his career has had one of the most complete teams in the Nfl (this year aside which honestly minus the special teams they were the team to beat) and yet he still manages to choke it up when the game means something.

Accually: seahawks was the best team in the worst division last season

It has to be painfully obvious by now that Josh McDaniels had absolutely no eye for talent. Like Baph said in another thread, it's amazing how many Bronco fans think that Tim Tebow was a good personnel decision and worthy of a 1st round draft pick.
It's called rebuilding/getting younger/new coaching staff. Not to mention, a new scheme on defense (4-3, not sure if you've heard of it..) Both Bannan and Williams were 3-4 players.

I'll think you'll find a general consensus that when a new regime comes in, broad changes are made across the board, especially when they run a different system...?

If you're struggling at grasping the logic behind this, just follow with me a bit longer. Hopefully it will become a bit more clear as we go on.

For the most part, new coaches generally like to give themselves a genuine opportunity at competing and bettering their chances of improving their team. Older, stop-gap players, (which these players obviously were,) should be the first to go. I don't think you'll find Josh McD arguing that these players weren't band aid fixes at best. Considering the fact that your team chose not to retain Williams, in particular, you should realize this. The fact that this seems to escape you, might be a sign for worry.

The contention that Tebow is or isn't a good personell decision, is incredibly premature. Again, how long did Rivers ride the pine? He benefitted from sitting and learning from a SB MVP while Tebow was thrust into play in his first season. Judgement ought to be reserved until a bit of seasoning has occurred, no? Or does your own teams' logic not apply in this regard?

Obviously, the goal of most franchises, is to end up like the two participants in this year's SB, not to be the perpetually best team year in and year out to not win/play for a SB.

        Sound familiar?

Suggesting that McD's "eye for talent" as you put it, be defined via the plight of these 3 players, is lacking substance. You would be better served to make light of the struggles of our current coach and his past and current follies, considering the fact that McD is no longer even part of the team...but that's just me and my peculiar logic that says "if you're going to attack a certain teams credentials, it ought to pertain to a member of the actual team."

I mean the whole center piece of this thread's argument is Josh McDaniel's skills as a talent evaluator, no?

Thanks for touching on that subject, I suppose. I would poignantly opine that the organization is keenly aware of Mr. McDaniels skillset. Based on the thread's seemingly in question validity, I can't say that I'm sure if you have been keeping up on recent events..

Next time you want to come after my opinion on something...please focus. I had to edit out 90% of your post because you were rambling.

McD "pertains to your actual team" because he made all the trades, drafts, and free agent moves the last two years. Those moves will impact your team for years to come. If Tebow doesn't pan out, it will be even longer.

            Weak argument.
Rivers couldn't get it done with all of those pro-bowlers and a HOF RB carrying the ball. It isn't going to happen for him or SD. How long do you think it will be before you get another ball carrier like that if ever?

Rivers will end his career like Marino though he wont be regarded as highly as Marino. You charger fans need to wake up lol

Rambling is what you San Diego Fans do in regards to your QB. He's this, he's that, he owns you. That's nice, too bad they don't give out a trophy for that, or automatically reverse The Big Game Choke Job. The hill he just can't seem to climb. Instinct tells me he never will...or maybe it's the test of time.

While I admit, 1997, '98 is a testament to time gone by, it pales in comparison to 1963. But then again, technically THAT doesn't even count because it wasn't the NFL.

So, in closing, I'll bide my time, 2..3 years whatever it takes to decide how "those moves will impact the team." I do have a few years, presumably. Not 48 years...but at least a few.
