Don't get me wrong, Leaf was a MAJOR bust but I don't think you could qualify him as a bigger bust, literally and figuratively speaking, than JaWalrus!

We are arguing about a list made a year ago of course weve had this discussion heck after having one of the most patient men in the world quit as your life coach and no teams wanting him Russell not making the list should be an indication of how old it is.

QB is a crap shoot especially that high in the draft. you seem to have recovered with Brees and Rivers tho.

but with what cassell did last year, i'd be apt to slide his name toward the franchise part more than not
he put up some nice numbers, and despite not getting to the playoffs in NE the year he started, he did go 10-5....not too shabby at all IMO, and that was with an oline that year in NE that was trying to get him killed, and an oline who did get brady killed
i'd say cut cassell some slack.....

And there was a time I thought L.T. was the better acquisition, but then he done wo out, and now Vick is one of the best QB's in the league.
It happens -- it's just ironic that two franchise quarterbacks have been passed on by the Chargers SINCE they jumped all over themselves to get Leaf.

Offseason on an NFL forum during a lockout = little if any topics of contention.
I just hope it doesn't devolve into the Chargers boards

he has no jewelry as you guys like to say.....
as for brees, we let him walk and only 2 teams out of 32 bid on him (3 if you count our offer) and brees correctly chose the offer with the most guaranteed cash, since he was staring at a possible career ending injury, and his recovery was miraculous (those are his doctor's own words)
to be quite technical, brees couldn't get it done in new orleans until they signed FA darren sharper + traded for jonathan vilma (LB) (defensive moves)

brees left via free agency, and only had 2 teams bidding on him due to his horribly mangled labrum (which 'miraculously' healed.....)

luckily, we only had to suffer without a good QB for a few years until brees broke out in 2004, we have been sitting pretty nice at QB since.
so yeah, i am over it.

Did well in 2004, though -- but the failure-stink jumped over onto Philip Rivers.
But in Rivers' defense, he has looked very good while not contending at all in the postseason.
