Anthems and Protests ---
While we certainly understand the frustration by fans on all sides of the discussion, we have decided to keep the Broncos Country message boards separate from politics. Recent events have brought the NFL to the forefront of political debates, but due to the highly emotional and passionate discussion it tends to involve, we think it’s best to continue to keep politics and this forum separate. Yes, the forum is meant for discussion, but we’d like to keep that discussion to football as much as possible.
With everything going on in our country, it would be nice to keep our complaints and cheers purely related to football here. If you feel passionately, there are plenty of other outlets available to you to express your opinions. We know this isn’t the most popular decision, but we ask that you respect it.
Thank you for understanding.

in some ways cottrell`s defense was as good as wade`s
if i had to choose i`d pick cottrell over what i`ve seen from the guy we have now lol
Manusky needs time. But I never understood the hire in the first place. I tried telling Baph. The guy had Patrick Willis, a serious beast, and couldn't do more.
I would be scared for SD to fire AJ and Norv. If they did, that would be the coveted job. It would bring the likes of Holmgren, Cowher, Gruden to the door to the point they wouldn't command the same dollar amount had they gone for a job like ours when it was open.
i agree, he struck out big time on english and the guys he tried to use as fill ins for merriman
it`s a shame
if merriman wouldn`t have gotten titan`d it may have been a much different story for us
That Titan hit was dirty and it is a shame. The league with all their safety bull crap should have Merriman as the poster boy for their zero tolerance policy.
I just don't get trading up for a Mathews when you can get great backs later. I don't get going after some of the other LB'ers that were there. Maualuga was passed on. Drafting a kid like that would not only put butts in the seats being a USC kid, but he would be a BEAST there.
The DT he drafted seems to be a stretch too. Wasn't there a guy from Canada, too?

i will admit, anyone who doubted manusky (even if it was just blind hope) were dead on. our defense has taken a huge step back from last year.

I think I said late teens early 20's for all major statistical rankings. In fairness to Manusky and the D, Rivers has had an abnormal amount of TO's which doesn't help the D.
As fo JC not wanting any of the 3, I don't blame you. However, if your team was to make an all out move letting AJ and Norval go that would be the safest bet. You wouldn't want to take a chance on a guy like Perry Fewell (who I think will be an awesome coach) and go through the growing pains. You will want someone who can win now hence those 3. They win and walk away champs. Then hand it over to a guy like a Fewell no different than Pitt did between Cowher and Tomlin.
Only difference is, Josh will be a fine to great head coach on day, while AJ Smith will be a fail forever.
Yeah, McDum Dum is doing a bang-up job as the Rams' OC. He took over a marginal offense and turned it into the worst offense in the NFL.
McD was a ball-boy for the Pats, got lucky to be with a great NE coach, players and franchise, coached a HOF QB and offense that was in place before he was there and got way too much credit for a system that was clearly Belichick's.
Somehow McD's bravado won Bowlen over to become an HC, which he was clearly not ready for. He made dozens of mistakes even a smart football fan wouldn't have made and alienated players and coaches with his arrogance and attitude. Got rid of good players and left the Broncos in the mess it is now. Elway and Co. are just now starting to fix the mess McDunce left.
McD will be fired by the Rams at the end of the season and he'll have to con some team into hiring him as a QB coach for next year.
If in the years to come he gets a team to take a chance on him as OC or HC again, he'll try to do the same offense the Pats did and fail like in St. Louis and Denver.
Unless McD changes his attitude and offensive strategies he wont ever prosper as an OC or HC.

Manusky was the LB or ST coach (can't remember) under Wade, so the Chargers saw Manusky as a source of continuity.

You make some good points, however the Spanos family treats the Chargers as a business and little more. They would never part with the $ required to bring a legitimately good HC/Exec to San Diego. I still think the next GM of the Chargers has the surname Spanos.

I would agree with you, especially when he has been neglecting the O-line and it really shows these days. I'd take a primo O-lineman over a top-flight RB any day.

I was personally on the Maualuga bandwagon. AJ has been blowing 1st round picks for years. Combine that and his tendency to trade away our 2nd rounders next year for a 3rd this year and you'll quickly be fielding a sub par team.
The DT he drafted seems to be a stretch too. Wasn't there a guy from Canada, too?
Liuget gets a pass this year in my book, as does any rookie this year as Baph has been good enough to remind me time and again this year. As for the guy from Canada, you are referring to Vaughn Martin a 4th round pick in I don't know which year. He starts these days ever since Glasstillo got hurt. He'll get pushed around by better O-lines, he's servicable in a 3-4 but I'd like to see the Chargers in a 4-3. (which I think they are running more of these days regardless)
