Little early to pop the cork ... but we have no reason injuries aside why we can't make a run at another ring. The only slight downer is doom leaving but he doesn't make or break the d. We will undoubtedly draft a few d lineman thankfully for us there is quite a few in the first three rounds to chose from. I can't wait to see brocks progress in the preseason , I would be surprised if he doesn't see heavy snaps this go round. I might be his biggest fan, I think he has a chance to be a pro bowl caliber qb with some more time and manning a a guide. And he's got the arm to use Thomas down field. Can't wait.

Yea I think elway saw a good value in the draft , a rough unpolished guy with huge talent , the connection with asu might have helped , gave him a little bit of inside info , but elway wouldn't have drafted him in the 2nd unless he planned on him starting at some point . I mostly agree , but the key word is contender , and even the 11-5 Matt Cass pats found out fast they weren't contenders , there's a few teams that without the franchise qb can make an impact enough to get into the playoffs but not really be a threat last ten rings were given too ...Joe flac, eli , a rod , Brady , breese, big Ben and Peyton , in the modern NFL a top end qb is a must

It's hard to argue against needing an elite QB to win a championship, if a QB is automatically anointed elite simply by winning one.

Brady was not an elite QB 01-04, they were a team that won by defense and Brady was not a top QB. The 01 Pats were ironically a perfect example of a defensive team w/o a great pass attack beating a great pass attack in the Rams.

Big Ben was not an elite QB in 05, and I really wouldn't say he ever has been one. He was a top GW drive QB until 2010, and is one of the best at extending the play but that's about it. He never started putting up good stats until they stacked the deck with great receivers. In 05, he was no better than Brad Johnson of 02, and was worse in the SB yet he was labeled a legit SB QB.

Eli was elite in 2011 but not in 2007, back then he was ok but not elite. They won due to defense and run game, had he been a legit top QB on that team they would have been 13-3 and up every year.

As for Flacco, you could argue he's an elite QB BUT had they lost to SF he would not be considered one. Before then, all you heard about was how their offense goes as Ray Rice goes.

The 08 Pats never really found out they weren't contenders, they missed the POs back in the age of certain divisions reigning supreme, and constant debates about playoff seeding, where they missed at 11-5 when an 8-8 team got in and had a home game. Hard to say what would have happened had they got in.

I remember in those days I would hear Chiefs fans talk about their one SB back in 1969 when Chargers fans would bring up their postseason appearances. That was pretty ridiculous when we're talking about now. In any case if we're talking about the present, times when no or few current players were even around isn't relevant.

It was lame for Chief and Bronco fans to make fun of postseason failures when they couldn't even reach the postseason back in 07-09. However, it is equally lame for Charger fans to do it now, gotta be consistent.

Wait ... first off denver has one of the most loyal , fair , fan bases in the nfl. We have class too you never see us cheer injuries , you see us cheer an opponent wave that hes ok after injury . Leave the fan base out of it. the chargers dont really even have a fan base.
