Maybe if Kap had run for a ton of yards but 22 yards on the ground isn't enough to equalize his performance.

The main reason why I think Manning's performance is equal to Colin's is because Manning had 7 touchdowns. Colin's stats were in the context of the game. Manning's performance seemed forced. It was like they were calling plays to get him the record. The record is great because nobody has done it. Colin's performance was in the context of the game. The game was close and he did it leading his team to a win.

It wasn't forced we just didn't have a run game which makes it more impressive.
