Well, if he was here to respond to this......

Like Birdman said....If you make the claim...back it....You call yourself
semi- expert (if I do say so myself..!)
then show us why you are.

    Talking to myself, arn't I ?

I have no "burden" to "prove" anything! If you don't agree with my comment and are comfortable with being wrong, then I say "Fine". Otherwise, go check it out on Colts' boards or NFL sites and figure it out for yourself.

I certainly don't intend to rummage thru three year-old facts to support my comments for the sake of appeasing a bunch of nay-sayers. That would be monumental waste of time. But if you're interested in trying to proving me wrong

"quietly some experts" doesn't cut it.

HOF QB went down + bad defence + lousy backup QB = team goes down. Pretty simple.

Bo's short on proof and long on conspiracy theories.

The Colts were headed on a rapid, down-hill sleigh ride by that season, after 2 uears of Coma Caldwell's leadership and were destined to finish out of the money that season, with or without Manning. Some astute NFL observers have even quietly suggested that Manning's decision to sit that one out was linked to his knowledge that the team was not going to fare very well anyways!

So, this myth that the Colts fell apart because of Peyton's absence is not really sustainable if you know all the facts, or do the research.

Is that why when Manning missed the year, they won 2 freaking games, yet NE won 11 games when Brady was out.

Brady has always had the superior team, coach, roster, FO for most of their careers and its not even close.

Better OL's by far, better running game, superior defenses, better coach other than weapons which isnt a huge gap the last few years.

So barely better weapons equals better teams, ROFL.

More excuses for Brady, what else is new?

Two game winning drives and 1 4th quarter comeback in the 2001 postseason... just saying. He didn't carry them, but he was by no means carried by the defense. The defense needed him to come up big and he did. Hence the SB MVP.

    And this:

2000 Drew Bledsoe starting; team was 5-11 and 25th total offense

2001 Tom Brady starting; team was 11-5 and 6th total offense

A lot of the players on that defense were names because of the success of the team. How many of those players left NE to do nothing elsewhere: McGinest, Vrabel, Ty Warren. Rodney Harrison was a player everyone thought was done and washed up; Patriots were the only team to offer him a contract he took it and proved everyone wrong. Seymour is the only one to go on and have continued success but the team valued Wilfork over Seymour. Asante Samuel is probably the most overrated player the league has ever seen.

That's what makes Belichick such a good coach; one piece leaves and another comes in takes over a role and the team doesn't skip a beat.

The difference was 2009 when the core of the defense left; we had holes at LB, CB, S, and DL. Our defense went to crap due to poor drafting see: Meriweather, Butler, Brace, Love, Guyton, etc.
