  • Reminder on player "monikers" and name calling

    Hey there fellow BCMB members!!!!

    It seems there has been quite a bit of confusion about name calling, derogatory player name monikers, what is and what isn’t allowed in GD and/or Smack…. So we’re gonna clarify a few things. This isn't directed at anyone in particular, just some "housecleaning" to help keep our boards fun and enjoyable for everyone involved.

    Our COC comes first and foremost. Remember that “thing” you agreed to at sign up? I know, I know… most of you just flew by it, clicked “agree”, and probably didn’t even read it. I’ll quote the part that pertains to this post, but highly encourage you to re-read the CoC;

    * Any communication that is intended to harass, belittle, humiliate, threaten or cause embarrassment to a fellow member.

    * ".. using fan names in topical boards that are offensive to the topic, the team, the sport and/or its fans,.." Example- the use of “Buttfumble” in reference to Mark Sanchez was NOT allowed in GD while he was a Bronco and “protected” as such by the CoC. Have fun and go town with it in Smack all you want. “Assweiler” being another great example that has recently popped up… he is no longer a Bronco, so fair game on him. And any other non-Bronco, so long as the name is within the CoC. “Ass” is no longer an IPable language word, so “Assweiler”s name works… get the point there?

    That being said, any derogatory moniker- inclusive of "hater" and "homer", etc.- is now, and always has been, allowed in smack only. While using such names and terms please keep the CoC firmly in mind as it is our guide in keeping this place clean. We do not allow direct attacks such as calling another member “dumb” or an “idiot” or a “moron” in GD or Smack. Smack the post not the poster, do NOT make it personal.

    Also keep in mind that as we sit here and read what you posted that in most cases emotion, inflection, sarcasm or whatever was going through your mind as you typed cannot be deciphered, so we'll try to see the context but if there's any grey area we'll IP and delete the post. So, in short, if you have doubts if it's okay, assume we have those same doubts and it'll be dealt with.

    You are all great and we appreciate your time here in helping make these boards all of ours. Thank you for taking the time to read this.

    Is it okay to call someone a 'moniker'? Cause, I think there are some real monikers on here sometimes. :thumb:

      Only if they are playing a harmonica under water while painting their toe nails and there's a 3mph north eastern head wind that is carrying fourteen leaves from a shrubbery. ESPN says that has never happened! :thumb:

        The post is outdated. Now Brock Osweiler is a Bronco and Mark Sanchez is a Bear.

          It might be updated later during the off season.

          I'm sure everyone gets the point, though. If it's a current player, no derogatory monikers. If it's an ex-Bronco, have fun (within the CoC).
