  • Patriots are picked to win SuperBowl 51

Patriots have 11/4 odds of winning their 5th ring. And Dion Lewis isn't even back yet. Discuss.

I'll post here after the Patriots* are eliminated to remind you the odds in Vegas don't mean jack squat.

        ya that seems about right.

Look at it backwards... on a neutral field in the Superbowl, or in the playoffs likely at NE .... who can or is most likely to beat them?

        AFC:

us - Maybe - Have some issues to fix but possible, we do it often
Pitt - maybe with a healthy team
Oak - No - more holes than us right now on D
KC - No - Too up and down away from home.

        NFC

Minn - not enough weapons on O, Bradford a liability
Eagles - Maybe but again, an up and down team.
        packers - same issues

I am not saying start carving the trophy, but the odds seem to be in their favour this year.

First off, the Patriots are always the favourites in October, and yet have won 1 Super Bowl in 11 years.

Secondly, if you're quoting betting odds you should know that they're not set based on who the casinos are picking to win, but they're set based on betting patterns to dissuade people from betting on certain things and encourage them to bet on others. It's all about limiting exposure and trying to make as much money as possible for the casinos.

The Patriots are favourites because people have been betting on them, so Vegas is lowering their odds to try and get people not to do that anymore, not because they think the Pats will win.

Personally I think you missed the 1 team who can beat both NE and Denver - the Dallas Cowboys. That offensive line, coupled with EE are very dangerous.

They were favored last year too up until Brady got hit 22 times on the way out the door.

Dam. You are correct. Missed that one entirely. Totally agree. Might be the most equipped to do it too.

They can only do that if they stick with Dax Shepard they will not pull that off going back to Tony Romo.

Well then every NFL team should just forfeit the season
and DEN should relinquish the Lombardi.

Really it's like why should anyone else even play the game when they play like that.

Fairly certain they were picked to win Superbowl 50 as well.

Wasn't that such a sweet run? Beating undefeated teams like the packers and patriots and then beating Big Ben n the steelers! Then adding the cherry on top by shutting down Cam n the panters in the super bowl!

I'm hoping our inside linebackers can get it together coverage wise so we can see that type of dominance again and then beat the hell out of Seattle in Super Bowl however I think it'll most likely be Minnesota representing the NFC this year.

I'm pretty sure they won't lose to Seattle again with such a sour loss like they did in the playoffs last season...

That's if they can stay healthy!

Now Bring on the contribution points because y'all know I'm right. Or if you really want to wait till the end of the season either way that's the way it's gonna play out in my opinion.

of course they were - there was no one else in the AFC, and the broncos did nothing for the 15 years prior to last year.
Super Bowl Wins: Brady - 6 Elway - 2 Manning - 2 (played well in none and took HGH)
