  • Rocky Times Ahead in KC?

Now granted it's only a practice in May. But when you go all in on a second year QB, it's probably unnerving when he throws interceptions without a real pass rush coming at him and fails to complete 50% of his passes on the day.

Stats on the day: Full team O v D: 4 of 15 with 1 interception. 7 on 7 drill: 7 of 12 with an interception.

Chiefs coach Andy Reid said that he wants quarterback Patrick Mahomes to "massage each play and see how it works against different coverages" in practices leading up to his first season as the team's starter and that process is going to work out better some days than others.

Thursday's practice had its hiccups, but the Chiefs "are throwing a lot of stuff" at Patrick Mahomes II and the offense appears to be loaded.

KC needs him to be good, especially with their defense not being very good for the last few years and not looking better this year, they might need to score 30+ points every game in order to have a chance to win.

On paper they do look like a contender, but then you realize they are coached by Andy Reid. The team will most likely go full Reid come playoff time.

It's still early-- let's not be too judgemental.

It's rather safe to be judgmental because of the history of Reid. He doesn't know what clock management is, and he always makes his team choke away a lead. The game against the Titans last year was a big showcase of Full Reid.

Edited for more accuracy. Their full collapse will happen once Reid is gone. Until then, we'll see them fall flat on their faces in the playoffs more than we see them miss the playoffs.

We're really sitting here criticizing Kansas city's head coach when all our coach seem to care about is whether we had a good Wednesday practice or not!

The difference between Vance and Reid is that Vance is a head coach with no history yet. Andy Reid is almost two decades into his time in the NFL and he STILL can't figure out what clock management is, tries to make the team look more flashy, and chokes away games where they matter the most. I would post a video of Andy's Legacy of Failure, but due to the forums rules I sadly cannot.

Exactly. The last time I posted a video from UrinatingTree it was taken down because of the language rules.

Why not just mention the two most pressing examples: 1. In the Super Bowl v New England when his offense moved with no urgency when down late in the game. 2. In the playoffs v New England when down two scores and his offense showed no urgency in moving the ball down field when trying to get the first score.

Reid has no real concept of clock management and he has a need to try and show how smart he is on offense. A good example of that was Christmas night v Denver which the game well in hand he had Poe throw a jump pass for a TD. Rather than saving that for the playoffs when it might be more useful he used it during garbage time, which gave future opponents the knowledge of how that offensive package fully played out. I would also point out that the offense sputtered badly last year to the point where Reid gave up playcalling, now the play caller has left for an HC position and Reid is back to trying to prove how smart he is.

Andy Reid is very much like John Fox, a guy who can bring professionalism back to an organization that is lacking in it, and get them not he right path, but a guy with a ceiling due to his own limitations. Kansas City should have fired him this year, they would have had their pick of candidates, but instead they'll continue in their own little version of Groundhog's Day.
