  • Rivers, And Getting Garbage Time Stats

Today is the perfect example of Philip Rivers and what he is as a QB, a stats accumulator, not a winner. The game was 31-12 and Rivers had a mediocre stat line with 147 yards passing. The garbage time starts, the game ends 38-28 with the Chefs never in danger, but Rivers ends up with 424 yards and 3 TDs. The media and Chargers fans will talk about how great he is, but he only did so when the game was no longer in doubt.

He's a loser with a great stat line.

you do realize that not all those stats came in garbage time, right?

it literally happens to every QB, you act like hes the only one to benefit from garbage time stats. in fact, a big bulk of fantasy points come in garbage time and that is a fact.

but tell me, the lats time he broncos played the charges, how many of those points came in garbage time?

The game was 31-12 and over. Rivers had 147 yards, 1 TD and 1 int at that point. The game was effectively over. San Angeles never got close, but Rivers accumulated his stats.

He's the epitome of a garbage time superstar.

There's no doubt about it, Brees and the Saints also love to pad his stats, no argument there. But Brees has won, that's what make's him one of the best ever. Rivers has taken loaded rosters and turned in 8-8 seasons, with lots of great stats.

rivers is going to retire top 10 in NFL wins lol

brees' playoff record isn't that great either, but he has a ring.

again, every single QB and skill position player benefits from garbage time stats, it's just a fact.

yes, just like last year the chargers came out the first game flat as can be. two TD's given up on ST's, 6 dropped passes with 3 of them that would have been TD's. and just like last year the chargers will get their stuff together and dominate.

the passes that were dropped were by receivers i know can play, more importantly mike williamns didn't have any of them and didn't look like the guy with no explosiveness you said he was.
