  • AFCW final 2021 predictions

well, the rosters are pretty much set, here are my predictions.....

    chiefs 11-6

    Chargers 10-7 (WC)

    Broncos 8-9

    Raiders 5-12

It's going to be a three-team race most of the season. the chiefs will win the division but it will come down to week 15. the chargers honestly could be the team with only 5 wins, or they could win 13 games, it's really hard to predict but I'm going 10 wins.

the chargers will have a top 10 defense and offense with crappy special teams that could keep them out of the playoffs again. the broncos will have a below-average and inconsistent offense with a top 5 elite defense. the raiders are going to have a terrible defense again that most teams now know how to attack, it's going to cost them a lot of games IMO.

the chargers will go 5-1 in the division sweeping both the raiders and broncos then split with the chiefs.

It should be a fun competitive division this season, gonna be fun watching my bolts curb stomp the donks this year on their way to a playoff birth in Brandon Staley's first season as a head coach!

Don't disagree, unfortunately. However- I think the Raiders will be more competitive and they'll find more wins outside the division.

I have us splitting with both chargers and raiders this year and losing out to the chiefs.

        Chiefs 12-5
        Broncos 10-7
        Chargers 9-8
        Raiders 5-12

Chiefs get beat by Browns or Bills in playoffs.
Fangio keeps his job, but Broncos draft a QB who will probably suck.
Herbert is still awesome, but Chargers gotta Charger.
I'm going Gruden gets fired here.

It's a lot to type but this is how I see it....

first of all, the chargers choked a lot of games away last year that they should have won. they would get a nice lead in the first half then play not to lose in the second half by being conservative, that was Lynn and Bradley's strategy and that's largely why they are gone.

Gus Bradley would almost never blitz and his philosophy was to never make adjustments based on what the offense is doing and just keep everything in front of them. among many other things that I won't bore you with but staley's defense is the polar opposite.

teams are not going to know what the chargers defense is doing (unlike Bradley's) and they will blitz quite a bit. Derwin James is healthy and back and to me, that's a huge reason alone for a big improvement on defense. the charger's defense is going to surprise people, I have more faith in that defense than even the offense if key guys stay relatively healthy.

offensively, the charger's main problem (aside from going conservative with big leads) was the offensive line. one of the worst offensive lines in football if not the worst. that OL has been totally rebuilt with proven quality starters and a rookie left tackle that I'm already convinced is the real deal.

there is no reason to believe the chargers won't have a top 10 offense and defense. the major question mark is special teams which was historically bad last season and doesn't look to be all that much better this season to be honest.

new coach and 22 new players but I still have zero faith in ST's, especially when it comes to kicking. kick coverage still looks bad, the new kicker doesn't impress me other than having a strong leg, and they have K.J hill as the return specialist, our slowest receiver on the team

depth at offensive line, defensive line, RB, and safety are very big question marks as well. luckily they are pretty healthy going into the season but if they get hit with the injury bug teams will be able to exploit it.

not to mention Brandon Staley who seems to be an extremely smart and great coach but with very very little experience in the NFL overall, which still makes him a question mark. this among other things is why the chargers are hard to predict. they could suck again, win only 4 or 5 games and it wouldn't surprise me. they could get a first-round bye in the playoffs and it wouldn't surprise me.

which is why I went somewhat in the middle, I have hope they will be good enough on offense and defense to overcome the ST's woes and hopefully not get banged up too bad. this is my honest take on the chargers currently.

            sorry for the long-winded post

Hey I asked! I do see you guys improving with Derwin James back he is a great player.

I do like Staley but as far as your new scheme on both sides of the ball I guess will have to see.

one thing is for sure, with 22 new players on the roster with a brand new coaching staff and brand new schemes........the chargers are not going to be the same team they were last year.

                    Clearly the correct answer is

                    Denver 17-0
                    Chiefs 0-13-4
                    Chargers 0-13-4
                    Raiders 0-13-4

But in all seriousness I will go with

                    Chiefs 13-4
                    Denver 11-6
                    Chargers 9-8
                    Raiders 5-12

                    Adopted Broncos:
                    (2011-2013) Eric Decker
                    (2014-2018) Bradley Roby
                    (2019-Current) Drew Lock

I did the win total by looking at the actual schedule and also threw in some factors.

                      QB Rankings
                      Mahomes
                      Herbert
                      Carr
                      Broncos

                      Run game
                      Raiders
                      Broncos
                      Chargers
                      Chiefs

                      Defensive Rankings
                      Broncos
                      Chargers
                      Chiefs
                      My grandmother's bingo club
The first 11 people that read this post
                      My last 11 farts
                      Raiders

                      So with that said.

                      Chiefs: 14-3
Sadly, the Chiefs will break the Raiders and Broncos record by winning their 6th straight AFC West title. The best QB in the league, HOF coach, speed with skill, the best tight end, ect. Just too good. I see them beating a Bay in the Super Bowl.

                      Chargers: 11-6
22 new players + a new coaching staff means 22+ new ways to Charger the playoffs away, but that won't happen. The schedule looks too favorable and I saw 11 wins. The last game at Vegas may be for a playoff spot.

                      Raiders: 9-8
I don't like the roster's structure. I like some of the players, but not the depth. Nathan Peterman having a roster spot alone takes away a win. Last year this was an 11 win team that couldn't get out of it's own way. They were also a 5 win team that somehow did just enough to keep themselves in the hunt. A new defensive coordinator (thank you Jesus!) should help the bonehead plays made last year. I don't like the fact that we only have 5 wide receivers, with their true #1 pass catcher being the tight end, albeit the second best TE in the NFL. With that said, the offense will still go through Jacobs and Drake. If both are healthy, Gruden's boring predictability and Carr's checkdown extravaganzas will be enough to keep the Raiders in the wild card hunt and possibly earn that last spot. Carr is underrated and MUCH more talented than his play shows. I think they go 4-2 in the division.

                      Broncos: 9-8
A 3-0 start will get this team looking like world beaters, but things will even out throughout the rest of the season. Teddy will do just enough but I do think Lock will come in at some point due to injury. 11 wins is not out of the question especially if the defense plays like the top 5 unit I think it is.

This will be a 3 team wild card race well into December, reminiscent of when we were the best division in football and the Chargers had 0 Super Bowls and almost as many fans.

                        1. Chiefs

2, 3, 4. Doesn't matter...none of the other three are making the playoffs.

AFC playoff teams will be Chiefs, Bills, Titans, Ravens, Browns, Steelers and either Dolphins or Patriots.

I'd post some hopeful rah rah but the Chiefs have Jones on defense and Hill on offense. Until that changes ours will be the shorter season.

The AFCW will get two teams in, but I doubt the Chargers will be one of them. They seem to be moving in a good direction but let's see if all the new pieces and coaching actually mesh together first. The Raiders will be a better team than their record shows but they have it rough this year.

This division is setting up nicely for the Broncos to take. With a favorable 3 game start to the schedule I think we can see 11-12 wins this year. We have a lot of young QBs on our schedule that this group could/should eat up.

                            Den- 12-5
                            K.C. 11-6
                            L.A. 8-9
                            L.V. 6-11

                              Lets see......

                              KC - 13-4
                              Den - 11-6
                              LAC - 11-6
                              LV - 6-11

AFC West brings 3 teams to the Playoffs!!! KC's offense will keep scoring points ranked 1st in the league. Denver's Defense ranked 1st in the NFL will carry the team and the Offense will just do enough. LAC has the most balanced attack with Defense and Offense ranked around 7th to 10th in the league for both. LV has NO defense.... 6 wins might even be a reach!
