I thought I remembered him getting better down the stretch and he did to an extent...but man...that Rams game, I forgot about that abortion...

I dunno we got a small sample size to work with of his time post-Hackett, but I think he'll bring it together.

he did get better down the stretch but he isn't getting any younger and when you consider his play style, that should be concerning to broncos fans.

I am curious to see what happens, almost as curious to see what happens with my team which I have my own concerns with.

Is there an example where a QB has had brief post season success, then fell off a cliff, then got back into the playoffs late in his career?

The only reason I believe a team would overspend to pick up someone like RW is simply to give the fans false hope and meanwhile behind the scenes knowing it may be a few more years until they can get a bonafide great QB on the team. Fans don't like to hear "rebuilding".

I cant think of one to that extent. RW was almost assured HOF status until he got to Denver. I think he can repair that if SP can fix him and have success. but if not, his legacy is ruined IMO. especially when you consider what pete carroll did with geno smith last season.

this is why I have my doubts about RW going forward.

I mean yea I don't disagree with you. I guess we'll see what happens. My hope was that he was just surrounded by a hot mess of coaching and poor play and that he'll bounce back this year.
If not, I am pretty confident that Payton will have a backup plan if RW doesn't pan out. I think Stidham has potential, but beyond that, I think Payton will have a lot better luck drafting QB's than Elway.

Worst case scenario, I don't see this slump we've been in post-Manning lasting too much longer before we end up a competitive team.

To say Denver had an offense in 2022 stretches the meaning of what a football offense is at any level. Schlereth said there was no adherence to a system and that plays were called just for the sake of calling plays hoping something would work. The front office had to bring in an experienced coach to help Hackett manage the sideline/box communications. The Xmas Day game with the Rams was a total meltdown with fights on the sideline during a 51-14 blowout with poor sportsmanship exhibited on the field afterward. Hackett was fired the next day and Jerry Rosburg was named interim. One of the first things he did was to fire the O-LIne coach which was met with cheers from the locker room. There is much more that could be said about total failure of the HC.

Sean Payton knew all of this and more. He took the job knowing what Denver's QB and draft situation is. The acquisition (not to be confused with inquisition) of Stidham is an effort to provide a backup QB with upside. Other signings (i.e., RT, LG, TE, FB, RB) indicate the style of offense Payton intends to install. It should be one in which RW can be effective. Time will tell.
