Anthems and Protests ---
While we certainly understand the frustration by fans on all sides of the discussion, we have decided to keep the Broncos Country message boards separate from politics. Recent events have brought the NFL to the forefront of political debates, but due to the highly emotional and passionate discussion it tends to involve, we think it’s best to continue to keep politics and this forum separate. Yes, the forum is meant for discussion, but we’d like to keep that discussion to football as much as possible.
With everything going on in our country, it would be nice to keep our complaints and cheers purely related to football here. If you feel passionately, there are plenty of other outlets available to you to express your opinions. We know this isn’t the most popular decision, but we ask that you respect it.
Thank you for understanding.

If they allowed it I'm sure some would abuse it, but those that do would probably get reported too - so I'm for them dropping the sensor on that one.
In the past, I've used 'Richard'.
You know...
Richard Vermeil
Richard Butkus
Eric Richarderson
that's freakin funny...eric richarderson
people name call anyway...there are plenty of words that aren;t blocked...just seems weird that a name that many athletes have would be one of the blocked words
yet if any of their names were ass, it would be ok
you see what i'm getting at here? ***** is a regular name, ass, not so much...seems weird that ***** is blocked but ass is not...that's all
I agree there's an inconsistency there. If one of the two words is cussing, they should both be cussing. It also doesn't make sense that a word that can have a harmless meaning most of the time is treated more harshly than one that has a negative meaning all of the time.
And yes, people will abuse anything that's not censored. The thing is that those that want to do so will do so regardless of what we do about it. The asterisks are really just there to prevent people from accidentally saying things they shouldn't. Someone that's determined to break the rules usually finds a way to do it.
I'd certainly encourage more discussion on the matter for those it might be important (or fun) to.
It's funny to see people get all creative with that one (a$$, @ss, @$$, etc) when using the real thing is allowed.
That always confused me personally. If it's censored, it's censored for a reason and thus should probably not be used to begin with. Subverting the censor just means the person knew what they were doing was against the rules (which are there for the other members, not the staff) all along and now the mods have to work harder to clean it up.
It also makes their post look funny. The stars distract me from the point of a post to be honest. The author tends to lose me if I see a bunch of weird texts and fonts.
I do agree that it's even more ironic when the word is actually not censored. That's just icing on the cake by that point, though.
Personally, I think that if it's a name, you shouldn't censor it. How would you feel if YOUR name was censored?
If people are going to use it to attack others, then they should get an IP anyway. It shouldn't make a difference in what the poster's trying to say; If he/she wanted to call the person a **** right now, they can do it and it'll be starred, and it'll get an IP.
If they do it when it's not censored, then it'll show up as the word, and they'll get an IP. I don't see the difference, other than in one case, you can see the word.
But again, it's not even a terrible curse or attack, so just seeing the word shouldn't be grounds for trouble.
Long rant short, if it's somebody's name, it should not be censored; if the member is trying to attack someone they're going to get an IP regardless.
If I try to rationalize it (I can do that well)...
Outside of names... if someone uses the word in question (Richard) and it's not meant to be a name... if it's not namecalling... it's probably obscene/inappropriate in its own right...
Where as ass can be simply talking about donkeys... and words like 'smartass' are all but common language.
In fact, my father uses it as a term of endearment.
I can't say that so much at this point about 'Richard'.
As for names... well, nearly anything COULD be part of a name, and we're simply not going to allow them all to be uncensored for it. Yes, it's possible to get IPd either way... but in the meantime, if the mods don't catch it right away or if it slips by us... we'd prefer the asterisks be up to the words themselves. Hence the filter.
I've seen some FUNNY names in my time in customer service.
Nothing will ever be funnier than when the filter started filtering the middle of 'Atwater' out of nowhere.

that's kinda silly but whatever...it's not that big of a deal either way....i only found out the word was banned after making a post with somebody's name that included d-i-c-k in it and thought it was a bit excessive, that's all
