    [Last Update- 10/13/07]

Hey all, many people on this board don't get to see the Hawaii quarterback, so being the HI fan that I am, I'm going to try to bring some exposure to the guy by posting his weekly stats and highlights on the path of what hopefully is a Heisman campaign. Will update weekly!

I just want to get his name out there, all I ask is that people don't turn this thread into a flame war. I'll let people judge his talent/potential for themselves.

    2005-2006 Highlights

    Week 1- N. Colorado (W 63-6)
    Passing: 34/40 (85%), 416 yds, 6 TD, 0 INT; 221.86 rating
    Rushing: 3 att, 23 yds, 0 TD
    Highlights
    Extended Highlights

    Week 2- @ La. Tech (W 45-44 OT)
    Passing: 43/61 (70.5%), 548 yds, 4 TD, 1 INT; 164.32 rating
    Rushing: 11 att, -8 yds, 1 TD
    Highlights

    Week 3- @ UNLV (W 49-14)
    Passing: 26/32 (81.3%), 298 yds, 2 TD, 0 INT; 180.10 rating
    Rushing: 9 att, 19 yds, 3 TD
    Highlights

    Week 4- Charelston Southern (W 66-10)
    Did not play (Sprained ankle)

    Week 5- @ Idaho (W 48-20)
    Passing: 30/49 (61.2%), 369 yds, 3 TD, 5 INT; 124.28 rating
    Rushing: 5 att, -2 yds, 1 TD
    Highlights

    Week 6- Utah St. (W 52-37)
    Passing: 19/25 (76%), 219 yds, 1 TD, 0 INT; 162.78 rating
    Rushing: 3 att, 7 yds, 0 TD
Left game in early 3rd quarter
    Highlights

    Week 7- @ San Jose St. (W 42-35 OT)
    Passing: 44/75 (58.6%), 545 yds, 4 TD, 4 INT; 126.64 rating
    Rushing: 15 att, -1 yds, 1 TD
    Highlights

    Remaining Schedule-
    10/28 New Mexico St.
    11/10 Fresno St.
    11/16 @ Nevada
    11/23 Boise St.
    12/01 Washington

The Idaho game likely ended Brennan's chance for the Heisman. Still, as he himself has stated, he has bigger priorities than getting an individual award: namely leading his team to an undefeated season and getting an invite to a BCS bowl.

He is the best example of a "system QB" that I can think of. Sure he has the size and arm to put up the stats but come the hell on, he plays absolutely no one. North Colorado went out the following week and got SHUT OUT by some team in a smaller division than Appalachian State.... The best player on Hawaii's team is Davone Bass, a receiver. He is totally legit, makes Ashlee Lelie look like a joke. Brennan also has a pretty troubling past, he was charged with sexual assault a while ago, I think the charges were dropped but anyone who gets charged with rape makes me second guess his decision making ability. Andre Woodson, Erik Ainge, Brian Brohm, John David Booty, and Matt Ryan all deserve to be drafted ahead of him.....I suspect they will be too once all these guys go through the combine and interview process.

I'm going to have to respectfully disagree. I believe Brennan will be the 2nd or 3rd QB picked at the latest. Brohm and maybe Woodson will be picked ahead of him. As for the Combine, if anything his stock will go up unless he has trouble with 5 or 7-step drops. His dead accuracy cannot and will not be ignored.

Brennan has no character issues. I'm sure you've done some pretty dumb stuff in your youth while drinking, well that's exactly what happened and I'm sure getting kicked off a team made him learn his lesson. He has been nothing but a class act since the incident.

Oh, and the original post updated for week 4.

ESPN did a very personal article about Colt Brennan for their new issue of ESPN the Magazine; an ESPN crew was following him around training camp late this summer.

I don't wanna start a Brennan bashing thread cause I like his play but your not gonna win the Heisman when you throw 5 picks vs. (1-4) Idaho. This is kinda proving that it's the system. In what game can you turn the ball over that much and still blow a team out by 28? I'm sorry to say but he needs to play some competition. I know thats not his fault but you get props when you play top 15 teams, you get the publicity. But keep the updates coming I do appriciate you getting him out there.

lol. idaho could keep brennan off the field the whole game with all the possession time, cause like 7 turnorvers and score 30 points and still lose.

idaho just sucks that much. they're a joke. they have no right to play in the WAC...hell, they couldn't even hack it in the Sunbelt. when they changed divisions, they should've gone back to the Big Sky.

I'm not one to make excuses but there was a reason for Brennan's bad performance against Idaho. He tweaked his ankle early in the game and could not step into his deep throws. Also, two INTs were off of tipped passes. Check out his stats vs. BCS teams in the last two years, he performed stellar in all of them with the exception of Oregon St, where he still had good numbers, and USC, his very first game for Hawaii against the #1 ranked team.

I do agree though that his Heisman chances are all but gone now. If Hawaii does run the table and gets into a BCS game it will help him get invited to NY, but ultimately voters will look back to this Idaho game and write him off.

              2. Broken Colt
The Setup: Hawaii 7, Idaho 7, around 6:00 remaining, first quarter, Hawaii ball, second and 10 at Hawaii 39.
The Play: DT Siua Musika sacks Brennan for a 5-yard loss, hurting Brennan's previously sprained right ankle.
The Impact: CB Breyon Williams intercepts Brennan on the next play. It is the first of five interceptions thrown by Brennan in the game. He had never had more than two in a game before. Two are on long passes where Brennan can't get enough push off the hurt ankle.
Brennan: "I tweaked it in the first quarter on the sack. Adrenaline subdued the pain for today."

Colt Brennan is a system QB with a stupid haircut. He is a flakey guy that does not have the emotional or physical makeup of what you want in an NFL QB.

                David Klingler, Part II.

He is not a firt round QB, and may slip into the third round, or even Day Two of the Draft. June Jone's
QB's have a hsitory of a lack of success in the NFL, and that will hurt Brennan as well. Brennan reminds me alot of JP Losman as well....not exactly what alot of NFL teams are looking for in their QB's.

I don't know if you are just a fan with an agenda, or if you are personal friends with Brennan or whatever, and I am not trying to start a 'flame war' here, but I will not sugarcoat my opinions, and gave my honest one here. Brennan is a system College QB, nothing more, nothing less.

He is over rated, plain and simple. I'd like to see Hawaii play Oklahoma or Texas.

I'm split on Colt. He is a talented passer. No doubt about it in my mind. But the system qb thing... for anyone who isn't sure what that exactly means. The type of offense June Jones runs all the reads are different, so essentially Colt would have to relearn how to read for the passing O. Many rookies hafta do that nowadays, so maybe it isn't that big a deal. And yes his stats are slightly inflated I still would not doubt him having success in the pros given the right situation. He seems to me like the type of qb that would fit into a Martz offense very well. He is very very accurate.

One thing to look at if you are unsure. check out the last couple of qbs to go through the Hawaii offense, see where their completion % is at and compare. They have had the same offense for a good while, and while I don't want to look cuz I am lazy. I very highly doubt Timmy Chang had over 70% completion days all the time. I may be wrong though and would love to know if anyone wants to look

No offense, but I can't stand Colt Brennan.

Timmy or Tommy Chang I think his name was, he was the Hawaii QB that no one has ever heard of, broke all these records, and absolutely sucked in the pros.

Colt Brennan may be slightly better, but he will NOT be an impact player.

Wow lots of haters in this thread. I see a lot of you saying he's a system QB, overrated, whatever, but pray tell me... what exactly are his weaknesses as a quarterback? The only two that I see that are obvious are his size (he needs to put on like 30 lbs) and lack of competition. If you guys have something else let me know.

I still think he'll have the best combine out of all the QBs coming out this year and that will solidify him as a first round pick. A LOT of teams are going to be needing a QB next year, that should help him out a bit as well.

Those are his only two weaknesses.

                          But don't underestimate them.

Lack of competition is BIG. The schedule he's playing is like the Broncos playing all of the ACC teams during a season. It'd be embarrassing to have even one loss.

Find three successful NFL QB's who didn't play for a good college, and had little competition.

For example, Jay Cutler went to Vanderbilt, which is terrible at football, but they play in the SEC against some of the top teams in the country...

Ya, did that guy even get drafted or even get a shot with a team? I remember him playing for Hawaii, but never did I hear of him even getting a shot to tryout for a NFL team..
