Mack Brown said it because he meant it.

It wasn't intended as a knock on the Sunshine State or bulletin board material. And he wasn't trying to start a debate about which state had better athletes.

Texas' head football coach made the statement simply as a matter of fact.

"We don't recruit Florida," he said.

Coaches in Florida don't say the same about Texas. While many Texas schools stay away from Florida when it comes to recruiting, Florida schools actively scour the Lone Star State for recruits every year....

Texas really doesn't have to recruit out of Florida.. they have all the talent they want in the state of Texas ... Those studs that don't want to go to Texas, They got to Oklahoma... The second teir players go to Texas Tech, Colorado, etc.. Mac basically gets his pickings at athletes, so theres no reason..

Thats whats nice about Colorado...we'll go recruit out of California, Texas, Florida, oh yeah, and even Illinois...

If I were Mack Brown, I would almost NEVER recruit out of state. There is no need to. Texas is so rich in talent, he pretty much gets the pick of the litter.

After the way little 'ol UCF smacked them around last week, with their 2nd/3rd hand Florida recruits, maybe he's changed his mind.

Plus, he's losing more and more recruits to OU and the like, so it's not like he can just assume he's going to get the pick of the litter anymore. Those days are loooooong gone, methinks.

Yep, and the current staff is really trying to build a pipline into Pennsylvania as well.
