Has there ever been a player to be runner-up 2 yrs in a row. If not McFadden will be the first. I think Houston Nutt is to blame for this by not playing earlier in the season more, granted he was injured but there were games McFadden could of played more. I see Tim Tebow as another Eric Crouch (NEB Heisman winner 01, I think) a bust. McFadden as long as he stays healthy will be a force in the NFL. I think McFadden was the best player but I guess I didn't have a vote.

Dont get me wrong I like Tebow, and he defiantely has the numbers and the talent, but how can a QB who has lead his team to an undeafeted season and a BCS bowl, not win it (Colt Brennan)? Its stuff like that makes it so hard for me to like get into college football seriously. I mean I watch my college teams, but I dont scream and yell, and get into like I do with the Broncos.

Thats about half of next years salary cap wrapped up in 8 players-and thats not even counting re-signing two of their best players, Moss and Samuels.
Now add to that a big cap hit and signing bonus for a top five pick and you have a salary cap nightmare. Its looking as if some very good players will be cut this offseason.

I'm amazed they broke tradition to give it to a soph...
I knew Tebow would have won, only thing barring him was the tradition.
No one cares about the Heisman anyways.
Also goes to show that Tebow is also a product of the system.
Good one.
--I find it ridiculous for people to think he shouldn't have won because he's a sophomore. He was the BEST player in College football this year, no exception.
--EVERYONE cares about the Heisman, it's one of the biggest awards in sports.
--Tebow winning shows that he's a product of the system! That one I don't even have to argue!Administrator

People that hate on Tebow are either jealous that their team doesn't have him, or are just trying to put him down to boost their own guy. If calling him a system QB is the best anyone can come up with, that's pretty weak.
And I don't think he will be a bust in the NFL. Even if it doesn't work out at QB, they will find a position for him. Fullback or safety maybe. He's too talented not to play somewhere. And he had a quote the other day that said he doesn't care what position he plays, he just wants to play football. I still think he has the tools, though, to at least be an average QB in the NFL, if not a pretty good one. Calling him the next Eric Crouch is stretching it IMO. I mean, he did lead the nation in passing efficiency, in the SEC, as a sophomore!

He has a couple years (assuming he doesn't jump ship early) and has referenced trying to become more pass oriented to avoid taking a beating like he did last year on a yearly basis. If he can show he's able to do so that'll go a long way. The other thing that concerns me about Tebow is he seems to have a relatively slow release throwing the ball.
I don't see him switching his position when he enters the NFL, either. Certainly not safety, he'd have too much to learn. QB is what he's been and what he'll remain to be. He'll succeed or fail at that position. Granted he's able to master a more advanced system, I can see him being very successful in the NFL. The closest guy I can give you is Steve Young. All we can do, though, is wait and see.

They want to see you have had 'advanced training' in learning a NFL level system.
However, Tebow does make some nice throws and is a monster running the ball.. I had no problem with him winning it this year, but if I were to give it to anybody this year, it would have to be McFadden, Tebow could take it next year if he wants.. just odd to me that a sophomore won it when the race was dead tied..
Some people argue Tebow put up huge numbers against great SEC defenses, well guess what, Arkansas is in the same division... lol, McFadden putting up monster numbers and he's going to be an instant stud pro... Tebow like everybody else mentioned, still has curves to take..fight u dwn the fied..cu must win.. fight fight fr Victoy..cu knows no defet! so roll up the mighty score, Never Give in!!...shouler to shulder we will FIGHT..FIGHT ... FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT!!

As far as Tebow's future in the NFL is concerned, it amazes me how everyone is judging his NFL talent when he has been at the helm ONE year, and did not start last year or spend many downs passing. He came into this year with everyone expecting him to not throw the ball well, and fumble. It seems that people have just been looking for reasons to hate him, and when he succeeds, they find some other hardly valid criticism to stand behind. I'm pretty certain he will play all 4 years, meaning he has 2 years to learn and improve his game, so he's only going to get better as a passer and rusher. Plus, who says he has to be a qb in the NFL? The kid is built like an HB or FB at 6' 3" 235 lbs. I personally think it would be a waste of his arm, but that is simply my opinion.
As far as this "system qb" label, um, last time I checked, every football team in the country has a system, some run it better than others and every team is different. Colt Brennan and McFadden could be called "system" players just as easily. Hawaii is clearly designed around a strong passing game, just like everyone knows Arkansas is going to run, so I find that a weak arguement at best. Tebow is the biggest double threat in the country, hands down. He consistantly beats teams with his arm AND with his legs, and has set SEC and NCAA records. The fact that he is a sophmore I think is irrelevant in the discussion of whether or not he deserves the Heisman.
