Wyoming Loses To TCU, 54-7
Moore rushes for 114 yards and one TD in conference loss.

FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) - Jimmy Young made sure TCU avoided a letdown after an eventful week.

Young had a school-record 226 yards receiving and caught three touchdown passes to help No. 15 TCU defeat Wyoming 54-7 Saturday night.

The Horned Frogs (8-1, 5-0 Mountain West) ended BYU's 16-game winning streak with a 32-7 win last week that vaulted them up the polls and into the initial Bowl Championship Series standings at No. 14.

TCU coach Gary Patterson was worried that his team would overlook a struggling Wyoming team. Young apparently took Patterson's warning to heart.

"We handled it well," said Young, who had five receptions. "We knew Wyoming wouldn't back down. Coach made sure we forgot about BYU quickly."

Young had scoring catches of 60, 55 and 39 yards, and hauled in a 65-yarder to set up another touchdown as TCU won their fourth straight game.

Jimmy Oliver had the TCU record with 206 yards receiving against Texas Tech in 1994. Young is just the second player in school history to have a 200-yard receiving game.

Young's big day helped the Horned Frogs pile up 444 yards of offense.

"Everybody looks for style points all time," Patterson said. "Maybe its just my defensive nature, but I'm just looking for a win."

Andy Dalton completed 16-of-22 passes for 334 yards and he threw four touchdown passes. The Horned Frogs, who led 38-7 after three quarters and rested most of their starters in the fourth, have outscored their opponents 140-28 during their winning streak.

Wyoming (2-6, 0-5), which upset TCU last season, has dropped five in a row and lost all its conference games by at lest 20 points.

Devin Moore had 114 yards rushing for the Cowboys, the most this season against a TCU defense which came in leading the country in run defense and total defense. More had a 42-yard TD run that cut TCU's lead to 14-7 midway through the second quarter.

"We need to taste the fruits of victory badly," Wyoming head coach Joe Glenn said. "It's been a long five weeks. We just played some good football teams and got rocked."

Wyoming quarterback Karsten Sween left the game in the third quarter with a concussion after taking a blow to the head from TCU linebacker Robert Henson. Sween, who took off his pads after going to the bench, did not return and was replaced by Dax Crum.

"(Henson) is a great player and I'm sure he didn't mean to do it," Moore said. "He was just hungry to make a hit and that's understandable. But when the engines are going like that, things can get out of control."

To prepare for the Cowboys, Patterson showed his team the tape of Wyoming's 24-21 victory over the Horned Frogs last season.

The Cowboys rushed for 232 yards and led 24-6 before the Horned Frogs scored twice late in the game.

"There was some really poor execution," TCU running back Aaron Brown said of last season's Wyoming game. "We came out with a chip on our shoulder and we proved a point. We are the TCU team everyone thinks we should be."

The Horned Frogs needed only four plays to score. Dalton hit a streaking Young for a 60-yard touchdown pass. The duo hooked up for 55 yards early in the second quarter.

"Jimmy played great," Dalton said. "He kept getting open and I kept throwing him the ball."

After Wyoming's only points of the game, Brown returned the ensuing kickoff 85 yards for a touchdown to put the Horned Frogs back up by 14 points midway through the second quarter.

TCU built on its 24-7 halftime lead when Dalton scored on a 1-yard run after hitting Young for 65 yards, the longest pass play for the Horned Frogs this season.

Young's final catch of the game was his 39-yard touchdown reception with a minute remaining in the third. The sophomore wide receiver was called for unsportsmanlike conduct after handing the ball to himself between his legs after he crossed the goal line - similar to a basketball player trying to dribble the ball between his legs.

"It's a small habit I picked up in high school," Young said. "I guess I did it a little longer than I should have."


Karsten Sween left the game in the third quarter with an injury.

Cowboys Get First MWC Win, Thump Aztecs 35-10
Devin Moore racked up three touchdowns in the rout.

LARAMIE, Wyo. (AP) -- Devin Moore ran for 234 yards and scored three touchdowns as Wyoming broke a five-game losing streak with a 35-10 win over San Diego State.

Wyoming (3-6, 1-5 Mountain West Conference) dominated from the first quarter onward Saturday.

Moore scored back-to-back touchdowns in the first and second quarters, running in from 35 yards and 3 yards for a 14-3 Cowboys lead.

Wyoming went ahead 21-3 when Chris Stutzriem connected with Brandon Stewart for a 69-yard touchdown. In the third quarter, Moore got a third touchdown on a 2-yard run. Wynel Seldon plowed through 14 yards for another touchdown to put Wyoming ahead 35-3.

The Aztecs (1-8, 0-5) scored their only touchdown when Justin Shaw caught a 26-yard pass from Ryan Lindley in the third quarter.

Wyoming Topples Tennessee, 13-7
The Cowboys improve to 4-6 on the season.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Ward Dobbs' 24-yard interception return for a touchdown helped Wyoming beat Tennessee 13-7, sending the Vols and outgoing coach Phillip Fulmer to another loss.
Wyoming (4-6), which grabbed its first road win of the season, should thinking about scheduling more games at Southeastern Conference venues. The last time Wyoming went on the road to the SEC, the Cowboys beat Mississippi on Sept. 24, 2005.

Tennessee (3-7) won't be sending Fulmer out with a bowl game as the loss will keep it from becoming bowl eligible for only the second time in the coach's 17-year career. Fulmer announced Monday that he was being forced out at the end of the season.

It's only the second time in history Tennessee has piled up seven losses in a season. The loss also ensures the second losing season in Fulmer's career.

Wyoming, ranked 111th out 119 Football Bowl Subdivision teams in total offense, had a hard time finding the end zone, but didn't need to.

On the first drive of the game, Mike Neuhaus picked off Stephens and ran 55 yards before being tackled by Lucas Taylor at the Vols 4. On the next play, Chris Stutzriem rolled out of the pocket and tossed the ball to Greg Genho in the end zone.

Stephens threw to Dobbs with 9:03 left before halftime, and Dobbs' touchdown gave the Cowboys a 13-0 lead. Jake Scott missed the extra point attempt.

Looking for something to prod the offense after Nick Stephens' second interception, Tennessee put Jonathan Crompton in at quarterback.

After a few successful running plays, Crompton underthrew a pass, was sacked for an 8-yard loss and overthrew Austin Rogers on third-and-19, drawing boos from the few Tennessee fans who showed up for the game.

Wyoming piled up 167 yards on the ground compared to Tennessee's 101 yards. Top rusher Devin Moore gained 98 yards, and Wynel Seldon added 40. Stutzriem finished 8-for-16 for 95 yards and the touchdown.

Tennessee had a shot to grab the lead, stopping Moore one yard short of a fourth-and-3 at the Tennessee 24 with 12:24 in the fourth quarter.

The Vols drove 59 yards, but found themselves with a fourth-and-8 at the Wyoming 19. Crompton threw to a diving Denarius Moore, who couldn't stretch far enough to grab the ball. Crompton finished 11-for-27 for 91 yards.

Tennessee had one last chance, but sputtered at the Wyoming 47 on fourth-and-18 with just under two minutes to play.

The Vols' only successful drive came on their first possession of the second half, helped by a 23-yard run by Lennon Creer. Crompton found Gerald Jones in the end zone on an 8-yard pass to pull the Vols within 13-7 with 10:08 in the third quarter.

Dennis Rogan recovered a fumble by Stutzriem at the Vols 48 with about 10 minutes in the third quarter, but Tennessee could only move the ball 2 yards on the drive, and Britton Colquitt punted.

Well, so much for a bowl game this year!

Lead Slips Late, Cowboys Fall to Rebels 22-14
Wyoming's bowl aspirations officially end with the defeat in Las Vegas.

LAS VEGAS (AP) - Frank Summers ran for 75 yards and the go-ahead touchdown and UNLV beat Wyoming 22-14 on Thursday night, keeping the Rebels' bowl hopes alive while ending the Cowboys' postseason bid.

The Rebels (5-6, 2-5 Mountain West) need a victory at San Diego State on Nov. 22 to become bowl eligible. They last played in a bowl game in 2000.

UNLV improved to 2-0 under freshman quarterback Mike Clausen. He was 16-of-30 for 138 yards and a touchdown and ran for 52 yards on 13 carries.

Devin Moore led Wyoming (4-7, 1-6) with 91 yards rushing.

Wyoming's Chris Stutzriem was 12-of-21 for 143 yards and two touchdowns. He also threw two interceptions, the last by Quinton Pointer in the end zone with 4:52 left as the Cowboys went for the potential tying points.

The Cowboys' Brandon Stewart also fumbled a punt return that was recovered by UNLV's Terrance Lee with 1:41 left.

Summers' 1-yard touchdown around the right side on the first play of the fourth quarter gave the Rebels a 15-14 lead. Summers carried the ball eight times for 25 yards on the drive. The touchdown was set up by a pass on a fake punt from Dack Ishii to Jerriman Robinson for 19 yards to the Wyoming 30.

On UNLV's following offensive drive, Clausen throw a 19-yard touchdown pass to Rodelin Anthony to make it 22-14 with 12:15 left in the game.

The Cowboys, coming off a victory at Tennessee five days earlier, took a 14-9 lead on Stutzriem's 28-yard pass to Chris Johnson on a scramble to the right with 12:34 left in the third quarter.

The Rebels led 9-7 at intermission, with Kyle Watson making field goals for 38, 36 and 38 yards. Wyoming took a 7-3 lead on Stutzriem 8-yard lob pass to Greg Bolling in the left corner on the first play of the second quarter.

UNLV beat Wyoming for the first time since 2003 to take the series lead 9-8.

CSU Edges Wyoming in Season Finale

LARAMIE, Wyo. (AP) - Billy Farris threw three touchdown passes to Dion Morton as Colorado State came from behind to beat Wyoming 31-20 on Saturday and secure bowl eligibility.

Colorado State (6-6, 4-4 Mountain West) started slow but relied on big plays and Wyoming turnovers to make head coach Steve Fairchild the winningest first-year coach in Rams' history.

Farris was 15-of-25 with one interception and touchdown passes of 31, 43 and 51 yards to Morton, who finished with six catches for 160 yards.

Senior running back Wynel Seldon led the Cowboy rushing attack with 107 yards on 19 carries. Quarterback Chris Stutzriem was 21-of-39 for 201 yards with no interceptions.

Wyoming (4-8, 1-7) continued to be hampered by turnovers, losing three fumbles at key points in the game.

Dave Christensen...Offensive Coordinator/Assistant Head Coach at Missouri. Awesome choice. I can't wait to see what he does here. I think it can be gold...Wyoming Prairie Gold that is!

I wish that he would have at least fully committed and started recruiting for WYO. But because of his Mizzou obligation, really can't.

That kind of offense would be fun to have in Laramie again. Wallwork era, before Tiller took that show to Purdue. Those were fun times.

Christensen has done some great things at Mizzou. Hopefully he can bring that with him to You-Dub. Our biggest problem has always been recruitment. Always will be. Alot of the country's talent comes from big cities in the south, and how do you talk kids from there into going to school in a small town in BFE, Wyoming? A coach may have the greatest system in the world, but if doesn't have the talent pool to choose from, then it may not really matter.

That being said, I hope Christensen can over come that and at least give us a hope of contending!!
