Anthems and Protests ---
While we certainly understand the frustration by fans on all sides of the discussion, we have decided to keep the Broncos Country message boards separate from politics. Recent events have brought the NFL to the forefront of political debates, but due to the highly emotional and passionate discussion it tends to involve, we think it’s best to continue to keep politics and this forum separate. Yes, the forum is meant for discussion, but we’d like to keep that discussion to football as much as possible.
With everything going on in our country, it would be nice to keep our complaints and cheers purely related to football here. If you feel passionately, there are plenty of other outlets available to you to express your opinions. We know this isn’t the most popular decision, but we ask that you respect it.
Thank you for understanding.

so u guys are not the only New Mexicans haha, i started as a sophmore and made 2nd team all district this past season. And congrats on making varsity as a sophmore
I'm getting props in here and I didn't even know it.
Yeah I'm from Santa Fe, Capital class of '98. We were pretty bad ass my junior year. It was our first year in 4A and shut down La Queva, Del Norte, Santa Fe High, and West Mesa. We were 9-1 on the season but lost in the quarters or semis to Manzano. It was an awesome season. Our tailback was the leading rusher in the state. Dude had 350 yards in one game (I don't remember who we played but it was pretty bad).
Unfortunately that was a long time ago and Capital hasn't been the same since. Although this year they did pretty well with my cousin Marc Moulton quarterbacking and playing DE.
Hey Parnell do you know coach Steve Castille at Capital? From what I remember he said he last coached with Valley? I could be wrong.
... , I know him well. Coach Castille and Coach Howe joined the VHS Football staff in '95, I think. They and others were proteges of the great Vince Collins who is still Head FB Coach at Valley. Coaches Howe, Castille and Smith, who is now the OC at Eldorado, coached Valley's JV in '95 & '96 or so. They were very imaginative! They punked Cibola's JV real bad once, so badly and unexpectedly, that the coaches wouldn't shake hands with us afterward. Sore losers with emphasis on the latter. As you know, Coach Howe is now Head Coach at Del Norte HS.
We scouted your playoff games in '96? I remember watching one at Wilson Stadium. Coach Moon, is that right? You were very disciplined, organized and tough!
If you want to tease Coach Castille, you can punk him on Notre Dame and the Chicago Bears right now. He is a dear friend, a great coach and a wonderful person. I knew him before he was married and had kids ... I'm just sayin'. We also taught together at VHS.
Another former Valley coach I should mention who is now at Eldorado is Alex Mikaelian, the greatest line coach in New Mexico. He is also one of the most loyal Bronco fans you will ever meet.
Another former Valley coach who is a good friend of Coach Castille's from Los Alamos is Coach Kowalczyk who now coaches in Colorado. He played at UNM and is also quite a Bronco fan. We all watched the Bronco Super Bowl victories together.
You may also remember that VHS had it's own string of District Championships and playoff appearances in '98, '99, '00 and '02. Actually beat Mayfield in the quarters in '99. Lost to Goddard in the semis at the Wool Bowl in Roswell. Scored too soon and then kicked off right to Andra Cheatham who returned it to our 45.
Coach Collins obviously had a great group of assistants at Valley in those days and he mentored them well. He is an innovator. Valley might be worth watching this season. VHS lost to Eldo in the playoffs last season and will open with them in '08.
Ah, the NM HS football wars ...
Take care, Bro.
