  • Official BCS Standings Weekly Thread

Alright, today the first edition of the BCS Standings were released and if you haven't seen the list yet, here's how it's looking so far:

    1. Texas 7-0
    2. Alabama 7-0
    3. Penn State 8-0
    4. Oklahoma 6-1
    5. USC 5-1
    6. Oklahoma State 7-0
    7. Georgia 6-1
    8. Texas Tech 7-0
    9. Ohio State 7-1
    10. Florida 5-1

    11. Utah 8-0
    12. Boise State 6-0

    13. LSU 5-1
    14. TCU 7-1
    15. Missouri 5-2
    16. South Florida 6-1
    17. Pitt 5-1
    18. Georgia Tech 6-1
    19. Tulsa 7-0
    20. Ball State 7-0
    21. BYU 6-1
    22. Northwestern 6-1
    23. Kansas 5-2
    24. Minnesota 6-1
    25. Florida State 5-1

Lookin' pretty interesting out of the gates.

And I hope Utah loses soon because BSU has got that #12 locked up but traditionally only 1 mid-major is guaranteed a bowl game and they have to be ranked 12th or higher. They'll likely take Utah over Boise, if this continues... but apparently Orange and Fiesta Bowl reps were at the game on Friday against Hawaii.

I believe this poll will change a few times between now and then ....As of now though Texas and Alabama National Championship would make a great matchup imo and they could end up winning out .....No matter where Oklahoma is ranked they are almost a nonfactor if they dont play in the Big 12title game....I think USC has the best chance out of any 1 lose team to make it if Alabama or Texas should lose....Penn St fate in the equation will be determined this coming week I think a 1 loss Big 10 would be 4th imo SEC,Big 12,Pac 10,Big 10 I guess it depends on which teams play and win the SEC championship Big 12 championship...

The only way I see us losing this is because of our secondary other then that give me a reason why?

Kellen Moore is a beast for being a freshman.

                  Ian Johnson.

                  Jeremy Avery.

                  Jeremy Childs.

                  Vinny Peretta.

                  Our defense.

                  Our offense.

I just don't see Notre Dame as a very good team... I know people say BSU is overrated because of our schedule, etc. but looking at Notre Dame's schedule I feel BSU would probably beat the majority of the opponents on it, and maybe struggle against USC. (if Oregon State can beat USC, so can we).

also what number is ND in the polls?

but foolin' around aside, i think it'd be a good game. i like ND... i just haven't really seen much from them. they struggled against SDSU.

but if you look at the stats for both teams... it's crazy scary how CLOSE the two QBs compare. same amount of completions, touchdowns, etc. Moore's only thrown 4 picks to Clausen's 9, and has more yards as well.

also i think our running game is definitely stronger than ND's, with a combined 1000 yards on the season to ND's 859.

i see strengths in your top two receivers... but again our receivers have more TDs and yardage than ND's.

also our kicker is better ... lol.

i'm still lookin' for defensive stats.

Alright, week three of the Bowl Championship Series and already we continue to see the top teams change almost weekly.

                    1. Alabama 9-0
                    2. Texas Tech 9-0
                    3. Penn State 9-0
                    4. Texas 8-1
                    5. Florida 7-1
                    6. Oklahoma 8-1
                    7. USC 7-1
                    8. Utah 9-0
                    9. Oklahoma State 8-1

                    10. Boise State 8-0
                    11. Ohio State 7-2
                    12. TCU 9-1
                    13. Georgia 7-2
                    14. Missouri 7-2
                    15. BYU 8-1
                    16. LSU 6-2
                    17. Ball State 8-0
                    18. Michigan State 8-2
                    19. North Carolina 6-2
                    20. Georgia Tech 7-2
                    21. California 6-2
                    22. Florida State 6-2
                    23. Maryland 6-2
                    24. Northwestern 7-2
                    25. West Virginia 6-2

Quite interesting this week. Texas Tech jumps 5 spots to overtake Penn State. Florida doesn't move at all and Texas only falls 4 spaces, still giving them a second shot at the title.

And we still need Utah to lose to guarantee a Bowl game. Right now we're in good shape at #10 and will likely still get a Bowl game, but a Utah loss basically solidifies that.

                      24. Wake Forest 6-3
                      25. South Carolina 7-3

Kinda surprised at Penn State. I was kinda rootin' for them. And Florida only moved up one... and it looks like Texas could even have another shot at making it to the title game despite the upset to TT. I'm kinda bummed. I wanted to see a Penn St vs. Texas Tech championship game. couple of teams that haven't been there in a while and it'd be a fresh dose rather than putting up with usc or ohio state and watching a boring, lopsided championship game.

as for us.... i never thought i'd say this but: GO BYU!!! or... San Diego State next week, then the BYU game won't matter

and I hope Georgia doesn't jump us. eeps.

it's lame that Utah jumped two ahead because they've won their last two games by a combined 6 points. not exactly high caliber playing. and they shouldn't have had a close game against new mexico.

sure, sure, boise has played utah st. and nm st... but i don't think the rest of the mountain west is anything special either... sure they could beat teams like utah st. or u of i (heck my old high school team could beat u of i) or nm st... but i feel like boise could easily manhandle any team in the mountain west, including utah. after all, boise state is still undefeated against the mountain west.

but I hope Ohio State does not get picked over BSU for the last bid!!!
i know it's just a projection, but not looking good.

CBS has Ohio Fake Suckeyes playing in the Fiesta Bowl against Texas...I hope the BCS has more common sense than that. Ohio Fake has no business playing in a BCS Bowl game this year.
