  • The Triple Option Alive & Well

No one can tell me the triple option cannot work! Georgia Tech, 49-400yards, AT GEORGIA, and the game isn't over yet!!! They have been operating at a PERFECT level on the pitch!! They are upsetting the Bulldogs 45-35 with 5 minutes left in the 4th.

Denver needs to bring back the bootleg and option. I think Cutler has enough speed to make it work.

Selvin Young and Tatum Bell had PLENTY of experience in College running the option offense, but Cutler? Too slow, no experience, and would have to be able to take a beating.

Now draft a QB like Florida's Tebow!

i dunno... i think Cutler can scramble just fine... he only needs to be able to make the option work... make the defender bite and then poof. option to Hillis, Bell or Royal or someone...

do you mean in the pros? or in college? i like how Nebraska has utilized the option more this year, i still think it can work in college to some degree.

pro defense's are too fast though, it could work if someone ran it like Miami does with the wildcat, like 10 or 15 times a game, but not every play.

Did you forget Cutler played at Vanderbilt? His offensive line was crap and he did take a hell of a lot of beatings.

I think it'd be sweet to see Denver get fancy in the backfield. Couldn't hurt. Obviously their other ideas aren't panning out.

Cutler is at least as mobile as Jake Plummer was when he was here. Cutler is at his best outside the pocket as a matter of fact.

not to mention he's a thousand times more accurate on the run. in fact Cutler's one of the best passers on the run in the game right now. i guess people don't pay enough attention.

The Jets said that they are going to focus on keeping contain on Cutler so that he doesn't escape the pocket

It could work for the Huskers, if they had the personnel like they did 10 years ago. Eric Crouch was the fastest QB I ever seen, and worked the option to perfection.

The triple option COULD work in the pros too, you would just have to have the dominant, fast, and technically sound linemen, a Fullback who could BLOW UP linebackers on the perimeter, and a QB who could stand the BEATING he would take. An option QB gets hit on EVERY PLAY weather he runs or pitches . Plus, he has to be able to pass, all good Option QBs can ALWAYS sucker the defenses with the playaction to the tight end down the middle of the field. I don't know how many times Wistrom would be WIDE OPEN with no one within 15 yards of him, and Crouch would find him for a TD every time!!!!
