this is how I think the bowls should have gone down:
Nat Champ: Oklahoma versus Florida
Sugar: Texas versus Alabama
Fiesta: Utah versus Boise State
Rose: USC versus Penn State
Orange: Virginia Tech Versus Cincy
Utah versus Boise State would have been amazing, how about Texas versus Alabama, it would be Big 12 versus SEC part 2.
Also, a correction: We were in the Hawaii Bowl vs. East Carolina last season. So at least we didn't lose in our own house. I forgot.sigpic

tOSU is gonna get clowned on national television AGAIN, this time by the Texas Longhorns.
But OSU fans can take solace that Mack Brown has more class than Bob Whoops, and wont have McCoy throwing the ball 48 times in a game that Texas will be winning.
OU motto: "Tired of everyone not being on their knees for you? Ring up 60 on every team you play, just because you can" LOLLast edited by CoryWinget81; 12-08-2008, 03:41 PM.sigpic

Heh, I like to use the term "clowned".

1st thing, I HATE OU. And, I'll admit, I loved every minute of BSU taking it to them.
I honestly think OU couldn't believe they were hanging around. It really threw them off. The look on the faces on EVERYONE on OU's sideline was a look of utter disbelief. They COULD NOT believe that they could lose to BSU.
Sometimes confidence can overrun itself, and turn into arrogance, lol.
That being said, I would have loved to play BSU in the Fiesta Bowl. Sorry bud.sigpic

i would've loved the opportunity. that's it. if the same thing happened, awesome... but just making it to the game is a HUGE paycheck we could've used to improve our team even more... scouting, etc... and share among the conference... even though i'd rather leave the conference.
but i'd love for BSU to get regular shots at teams like Texas.sigpic

The champion of a BCS conference (ACC, Big 12, Big East, Big Ten, Pac-10, and SEC) is guaranteed an automatic BCS bowl bid.
The highest ranked champion of a non-BCS conference will receive an automatic berth
UTAH
No more than one such team from Conference USA, the Mid-American Conference, the Mountain West Conference, the Sun Belt Conference, and the Western Athletic Conference shall earn an automatic berth in any year.
This system is not new....I did not come up with this system....I dont like it either...
Why make a thread taking it out on me....
Ok hate on the Buckeyes that will not change the Bull Crap System that is in place and it is not even mentioned....Upset about it or not things dont change on the fly..If fans want to have a field day bashing the Buckeyes have it...Opinions of the game, the team, will not change the bowl selection..Every year a handful of teams fall short...Most usually because of a loss,Schedule strength,Preseason rankings and a lot of other factors none of which has anything to do with the fans....Sure I would change some of the games around but this bowl season looks much better then last..Playoff already until then what else...
Nevermind it's right here
7 ranked teams in 6 years for you guys.
2-22 against ranked teams.
You may think that completely defeats my point but it doesn't. I would rather enjoy watching games against greater talent, with the chance of winning always there (and it has been, look at Oklahoma this year).
I would hate to be a fan of a team with inflated win totals. Really would.I have no problem with this list .... Only problem I see is in the title ....
Boise State is a Div 1 school although not consider a power house they have got a good program going and it shows with that outstanding record .... No team can be considered the best over ten years without winning a national title ...
100 + plus teams playing for 1 trophy yeah right .... The Media has its favorites and Sport Writers know all.
1 Major Flaw of Many in the system is the top 25 is already picked out ...
If your team is not in the top 25 you have little or no shot at all....
Conferences like Mountain West,Mid-America,Sun Belt,Western Athletic,Conference USA do not have a chance But yet they wear a DIV 1 title. I dont know maybe this mite be BYU year ....
If your team is from the traditional power house conference B12,B10,SEC etc
And is not ranked in the top 25 they have little or no shot 1 loss all but ruins any title hopes ...
So to wrap this up Boise State is the most winning team in the last 10 years wo a National Title ....
Each and every conference has its powder puff teams ....
SEC,Big 10,B12,ACC that would not be able to run the table on the lesser conf mentioned above.Last edited by LarryDean; 12-08-2008, 04:08 PM.:logo: :logo: :logo: :logo: :logo:Comment

What was that you was saying about Boise State S8

Anyway, no, I understand the system... but it's bunk and we all know it.
Yeah, the 6 BCS conferences get auto-bids... blah blah. But that has NEVER meant that they'd deserve those bids (i.e. Cincinnati and Virginia Tech).
Especially since two non-BCS teams are undefeated....and they're currently the ONLY two undefeated teams left in college football.
Also, who decided which conferences get to be part of this "almighty" Bowl Championship Series? Why not all the conferences?
Heck, why not just have the Top 10 be the teams that go to the 5 games? That way both BSU AND Ohio State would've been in.
*sigh*sigpic

If you don't want 60 put up on you, then maybe the opponents should show up to play. Is OU supposed to say oh ok, it's 45-7, they're not gonna win, so we shouldn't keep trying, and now we'll just pull all of our good players? No. This isn't Pop Warner, this isn't high school football...to quote Dan Hawkins "It's Division I football! It's the Big 12! It ain't intramurals!"
When you play the Oklahoma Sooners, you're gonna leave knowing who you played. I don't think it's unsportsmanlike at all, to continue to go out and play and give 100% until the clock reads 0:00.
As lazy as kids are these days, and how they half-ass things, and don't give 100%, I think it's a sacrilege to not expect our kids to finish a football game that they started just so we don't "Show Off". That's nonsense.
If parents weren't such pussees, and wouldn't complain about it in little league and high school, we wouldn't even be having this discussion. But oh no, "Little Johnny feels so left out because he didn't get a trophy." so now we give consolation trophies to both teams, and individual trophies to all the kids on each team.
Hell why don't we just give the Missouri Tigers duplicate Big 12 Championship Trophy...that'll make them feel better. Oh wait, better yet...let's give Ohio State 2 BCS National Trophies to make them feel better too. Afterall, this is the pussification of the American citizen we're talking about here.
This is the exact reason our ****ing kids are pussees! This is why they can't fight 1 on 1 on the front lawn after school, they have to run around in gangs where it's 12 homies on 1 brothah, and why they carry guns and knives, and why they murder each other. This is why we have organizations like the ACLU, the NAACP, and all these Civil Liberties Groups that whine, and cry foul every time something that isn't "fair" takes place. God forbid someone has something that someone wants, but can't get, and God forbid a team puts up a lot of points on another team.
You people need a *** **** ****ing reality check. Life isn't fair.
I don't think it's fair that Gary Pinkel gets paid $2,300,000.00 a year to coach a worthless football team that can't show up for big games, and that the only job I can find is a measly $8.00 an hour job at the freaking mall, selling hats to people. But do you see me whining that it ain't fair? No.
Sometimes you just need an ass beating to evaluate just how far off the beaten path you really are, and one of two things will happen. 1.) You'll either make the adjustments and you'll be better next year and you'll do better. or 2.) You'll writhe in your own pity and you'll suck ass even worse next year, because you're too mediocre to learn how to be a winner.Comment

Awwww. Larry. I'm not taking it out on you. Lol. I know you respect BSU (I think)... I'm actually more shocked that S8's stickin' up for meGiven how much of a hard time he's always givin' me.
Anyway, no, I understand the system... but it's bunk and we all know it.

*sigh*
I can understand.... I think BSU was deserving of a much better oppenent then TCU but TCU is no joke as well and I do believe that is a pretty good matchup....
I dont think BSU,Utah is like last years Hawaii team and both are capable of giving it a good show just depends on the matchup....
I know I dont want to see the spread vs the Buckeyes for awhile now...
Being a BSU fan you got put in the worst spot of a crap system....Although Utah does not garner much recognition I was wondering how you would have felt playing against them.....
The worst match up of all has got to be imo Bama vs Utah ...But thats the way it is I cant discount what that team has done and they have earned the right to play on the big stage and yes I agree BSU has earned the right more so then Ohio State as well....Ohio State was in no position to deserve anything this year but anytime schools such as Texas and Ohio St do battle it is good for all regardless of outcome and a game very much worth watching...Texas also got routed by the system as well and we are all sure will not discount the game at hand because of it....Last edited by LarryDean; 12-08-2008, 06:31 PM.:logo: :logo: :logo: :logo: :logo:Comment

Yeah I know. But since OSU was being trashed I had to take a shot too. Lol. Odds are both our teams are gonna get killed anyway (unless Patrick Nix decides to throw himself off the nearest bridge and we get an OC that can actually coach).

Larry:
As far as a BSU-Utah BCS matchup goes, I dunno. I'd be torn. On the one hand it'd be great because we'd be in a BCS bowl and that'd match both undefeated teams up together...
On the other hand, I kind of think it'd be a slap in the face to both teams. I mean, they both fight hard to get into the BCS to prove themselves against BCS opponents and then get stuck playing each other.
Also it'd be quite unfair to UtahWe slaughtered them last time we played them. lol
I mean that doesn't mean anything because these are two very different teams, however they're both two very GOOD teams. Although Utah had two 3 point games and none of BSU's games were that close this season. The Nevada game was scary at the end and the Oregon game was a nail biter but... against teams we knew we should've beaten, the final score was greater than 3 points.
*shrugs* I'd take it over a non-BCS Bowl any day I guess.sigpic
