Anthems and Protests ---
While we certainly understand the frustration by fans on all sides of the discussion, we have decided to keep the Broncos Country message boards separate from politics. Recent events have brought the NFL to the forefront of political debates, but due to the highly emotional and passionate discussion it tends to involve, we think it’s best to continue to keep politics and this forum separate. Yes, the forum is meant for discussion, but we’d like to keep that discussion to football as much as possible.
With everything going on in our country, it would be nice to keep our complaints and cheers purely related to football here. If you feel passionately, there are plenty of other outlets available to you to express your opinions. We know this isn’t the most popular decision, but we ask that you respect it.
Thank you for understanding.

Im just glad its not Tebow. College Football should be ashamed they didnt invite Crabtree or Harrell to the ceremony. Both got votes and deserved their spot there. This the first year only 3 players were invited.

Although I think McCoy deserved it.. McCoy got ripped out of the big 12 Championship which probably would have won him the Heisman, and got him to a National Championship game. So I feel McCoy is the one that got ripped.
However.... I thought Bradford was pretty damned close, and second on my list.... so I'm really not upset or disappointed in the choice. I think he's a VERY good QB, and would be absolutely SHOCKED if he makes the mistake of not coming out this year.. and then even MORE shocked if KC Chiefs don't take him.
Well he definitly deserves it! Congrats Sam! The kid put up outrageously good numbers, and seems like a class act off the field. Couldn't ask for it to happen to a better kid. :salute!:
I guess i'll take Timmy getting the most first place votes as a consolation, and hope this is a distraction for OU when preparing for the Nat'l Championship.

Go Sooners ...........................even tho im not a sooner fan
I think it's interesting that going to a NC almost certainly guarantees you a Heisman. I mean both Tebow and Bradford were in the running... both were in the NC.
Now, at the same time, obviously they're in the NC BECAUSE they're Heisman level players...
But I'd agree with whoever said that McCoy may have gotten the short end of the stick here by being screwed out of the NC game by a bogus system.
However, that's not to say Bradford did not deserve it. I think the candidates were pretty spot on this year. However, it's kind of lame that it's almost always quarterbacks or running backs. Even if a guy like Crabtree has the season that he had, it's difficult for receivers or other positions to get it.
But I guess it's kind of geared toward those type of positions.
At any rate.... another question is, does Bradford fall prey to the curse of the Heisman as of late?
Look at the recent Heisman winners who are in the NFL... are any of them actually doing anything? Leinhart, Smith, etc.

Once again McCoy and the Longhorns are ripped off.
/turns off bitter Longhorn fan mode
Getting over my bias over the whole thing too, this was a really close race, and each guy deserved it. You could make a case for all 3 (and Harrell and Crabtree, who should have been invited).
Bradford deserved it , no one can deny that, but I was sure they were going to give it to Tebow, and all those polls last week were BS after all I guess, saying Colt was the favorite.
So, I looked it up, and the last Hiesman QB to really make it big in the NFL was 1987 winner Testaverde, so it remains to be seen if the Jinx will live on for QBs. What I am not to sure about is Bradford is only a Sophmore, so if he declares for the draft, does that mean he Redshirted his 1st year?
Yes I agree Harrell was ripped off more then any recent QB I can remember, not even getting a invite?
Still think Crabtree is the best NFL prospect of anybody in the Big 12 this year, but he's a Soph. isn't he?
i'm glad sam got this award.he won it fair and square out on the field.i'm also glad that colt"i look like Alisia Malano"mccoy didn't get it.i would have been cool if tim tebow won but i'm really glad sam got it. anytime a okie beats out a texan i'm glad.
I remember once hearing talk about how there will never be another player to win two Heismans... because previous Heisman winners voted... and it was just going to stay that way...
But I don't remember hearing that at all in the past few weeks in regards to Tebow's chances... am I insane?
as for the Longhorn fan who is bitter, get over it...Texas sucks, and Oklahoma rocks!!!
OU>Texas
there's only 2 things that come from Texas, steers and queers. and the Texas Longhorns (not the animal, the football team) don't look much like steers...so that only leaves....well uh...the other option........but hey the rest of country knew that already.
I wouldn't have been shocked or dissapointed if any of those three guys would have won it. They were all deserving of the award. I say that with the understanding that the Heisman Trophy is not for the best player, but for the offensive "skill" position player.
