... now lacks relevance and the entire BCS "system" is shown to be seriously flawed.
The BCS has provisions for allowing a "non-BCS team" to play in a BCS Bowl Game, but none for considering an undefeated non-BCS team for the "championship".
Utah is undefeated at 13-0 and is the only undefeated 1-A/FBS team in the country the other one (Boise State) having been defeated by TCU (another Mountain West Powerhouse).
The Utes defeated Michigan in the largest seating capacity football stadium in the US (world?). Southern Cal's only loss was to Oregon State whom the Utes defeated. The Mountain West isn't weak as some "experts" have suggested. Check who has beaten whom for the past 5-7 seasons; it's interesting. Utah, BYU and TCU aren't the only tough football schools in the conference.
Now Alabama, undefeated in the amazing SEC until the conference championship game, not only loses to undefeated Utah, they get rolled, embarrassed, smashed, even toyed with.
I'm not even going to watch the game on Thursday because it's irrelevant. Neither Oklahoma nor Florida is undefeated. Florida lost to Ole Miss and the Sooners were soundly beaten by Texas on a neutral field. It can only be hoped that those who vote in the polls used by the BCS in their "formula" will vote Utah as #1. Anything else is silly, prejudiced and unrealistic given the current set of circumstances (sine playoffs).
